VERY EXCITING NEWS!!
WFMP applied for and was awarded grants for 2 community initiatives through the Rural Team Recruitment Grant Program/Alberta.ca.

WFMP will be offering FREE Child & Youth Mental Health Counselling provided by a Registered Provisional Psychologist. WFMP will also be expanding our Community Wellness Program to run 2 days per week. We see the need for both these initiatives and are excited to be able to offer them. Thank you to YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) and our MLA Rick Wilson for your support of Primary Care in Alberta. We look forward to making a difference in our community!

Stay tuned for our Wellness Office Grand Opening!

🌿🌲 Announcing our newest rewilding project: The Ma Matow Sakow Healing Forest in Wetaskiwin, Alberta! 🌲🌿

The Ma Matow Sakow Healing Forest, which translates to “The Miracle Forest” in Cree, is a rewilding project in partnership with the City of Wetaskiwin and guided by Elder Ivy Raine from the Louis Bull Tribe. Together, we're transforming a 3.3-hectare former landfill into a living symbol of rewilding and reconciliation.

The healing forest will feature 6,660 culturally significant trees and plants, chosen in partnership with Elder Ivy Raine to honour Nehiyawewin (Cree culture). Located beside By The Lake Park, it will serve as a gathering place for both Wetaskiwin and Maskwacis communities.

Planting begins Fall 2025 and your organization can be part of this transformative project!

Want to support the healing forest? Schedule a chat with our team to learn how your organization can contribute to this legacy project.

Hello everyone!

Friendly FYI: I use a notification system that texts appointment reminders (Owl Practice) - the number you receive this reminder from is NOT the business cell. If you need to get ahold of me, please text/call 780-312-8722 or email katie@prairiegrovepsych.com

Thank you! 🙏☺️

Exciting News!
I am now able to direct bill client benefits for the company Canadian Benefit Providers!

NEW!

As most of my existing clients know, I tend to book up really quickly (especially October-April). I often cannot accommodate same week appointments, and sometimes it can take 2-3 weeks to find a booking time.

SO! I am now offering phone or online sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays prior to 5:00PM. These sessions may even be available the same day as booking! Great for life's "emergencies", or if you don't want to wait.

Call or text to book at 780-312-8722, or email katie@prairiegrovepsych.com

How are fees for Psychological Services set in the province of Alberta for Private Practice?

In Alberta, the Psychologists's Association of Alberta sets a recommended fee schedule each January 1st. Psychologists in private practice base their fees on this, as well as taking into consideration the needs of their clientele as well as the needs of their community.

We also have the ability to develop a "sliding scale" approach to fees.

Starting August 6th, 2024, I will offer a sliding fee scale, with *limited* weekly appointments to accommodate those clients who are without benefits, AND have limited household incomes. More will be posted in the coming weeks, stay tuned!

The su***de crisis line number is 9-8-8

If someone you know is exhibiting warning signs, talk with them. You can start
by mentioning your concerns: “I haven’t heard from you much these days. Is
everything okay?” Keep the conversation going by asking questions and listening
to what they’re saying. You don’t have to ofer solutions. If you’re still worried
about them, ask: “Are you thinking about su***de?” If they say yes, don’t panic. Let
them know you’re there for them and help them access mental health supports,
including giving them the crisis line number, 1-833-456-4566 .
