If you're a grown adult who needs to be hard-sold and convinced to start eating more lean protein, vegetables, and whole grains, you're gonna struggle.

If you're willing to embrace the short-term discomfort of learning to prepare and enjoy the healthy food you've neglected your entire life, you'll do better than most.

Eat more. Move more.

If you want to lose fat without feeling constantly hungry and wiped, volume eating is your friend. Fewer calories does not have to mean less food.

Most people end up eating MORE food and FEWER calories when they switch from an ultra-processed Western diet to a high-volume, whole-food approach, especially if they track their intake.

Set a daily protein minimum. Keep fat around about 20% of total calories. Put the rest into carbs. This lets you train hard enough to preserve and even build muscle in a calorie deficit, as long as you are actually training with effort. More on that another day.

You need a sustained calorie deficit in order to lose fat, but the approach can make all the difference.

You can play the game in extra hard mode and make yourself miserable by cutting out entire food groups.

You can be hungry all the time by chasing endless variety and trying to squeeze too much high-calorie restaurant/takeout food into a restricted calorie budget.
..or you can play the game in the easiest mode by preparing most of your food at home and eating nutrient-dense whole foods most of the time while leaving a small amount of calories for indulgent treats.

The choice is yours.
