The Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre The Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre, founded in 1989 as a registered charity, is the only centre of its kind in type 1 diabetes patient care.

The interdisciplinary team (diabetes educators; nurses, dietitians and social workers) are available from the time of diagnosis through all of life’s challenges; from sick days to pregnancies; from school days to work days; and every day in between. The Best Centre’s staff help patients and families living with type 1 diabetes by providing both clinical and mental health support. We offer unique services that are not found elsewhere. As an esteemed leader in type 1 diabetes expertise, we will provide exceptional community based services driven by our patients and their need for lifelong care, education and support.

One week ago, we had the pleasure of opening our doors to anyone and everyone wanting to connect with others on World Diabetes Day.

This year was an amazing turnout, with many old connections reconnecting and new connections taking flight. Thank you to everyone who showed up to celebrate those impacted by Type 1 Diabetes.

Our Story

The Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre was founded in 1989 and promotes positive integration of diabetes management into the daily life of children, adolescents and young adults and their families. The provision of comprehensive education and life skill instruction is facilitated through individual sessions at the Centre and in the home. Crisis prevention through ongoing contact (through 24-hour pager, as needed) is provided for specific management issues.
