Literacy can grow with many different types of books. Does your child love comic books (graphic novels) or listening to stories (audiobooks)?

These are all engaging and very effective types of reading. Visual books and audiobooks help us learn story structure, story vocabulary and new ideas.

Your local library will have many free resources where you can find an audiobook or graphic novel that you and your family can enjoy together.

Did you know that telling stories is a great way to grow literacy?

Ask your child to tell you a story about what they are doing. This could be telling a great story about LEGO building or the latest campaign on FORTNITE.

Any activity can be turned into a story with a few questions. π–π‘πžπ«πž are we? 𝐖𝐑𝐨 is in this story? π–π‘πšπ happens next?

Stories come alive and the building blocks of literacy are built one brick at a time.
