So many parents are worried about the amount of chocolate and candy their kids might eat over this Easter weekend, so this is an empowered reminder that you get to choose what they hunt for!

“They don’t need screen time, they just need to be learning new skills!”

100% yes!… but also…
we live in a world with screens.

The goal isn’t to eliminate them.
It’s to use them intentionally.

Screens can be helpful.
Screens can be regulating.
Screens can even support learning.

But they can also become the default…
especially when everyone is tired, overwhelmed, and just trying to get through the day.

The shift isn’t about guilt.
It’s about awareness.

Can we pause and ask:
Is this helping right now?
Or replacing something we actually need?

Because choosing connection, movement, and skill-building
might take more effort in the moment…

but it leaves everyone feeling more grounded,
more regulated,
and more connected.

And that’s the long game.

I think one of the hardest (and most honest) conversations I have with families is this:

There is no quick fix.

Not because your child can’t learn.
Not because things won’t improve.
But because lasting change doesn’t happen overnight.

The patterns we’re working through were built over time, shaped by experiences, environments, nervous systems, and learning histories.
So when we support change, we’re not just “fixing behaviour”…
We’re building skills, safety, trust, flexibility, and regulation.

And that takes repetition.
Consistency.
Space to wobble.
Opportunities to try again.

Sometimes progress looks like the graph in this post… up, down, sideways, messy.
But over time, with the right support, it stabilizes.

Caregivers often come in hoping for fast results.
And I get it. When things feel hard, you want relief now.

But what we’re really doing is something more meaningful than a quick fix:
We’re building something that lasts.

Because time is going to pass either way.
The question is… what are we building within it?

We are so excited to introduce our newest EverLife ABA clinician! Meet Miska Jones. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Registered Behaviour Analyst in Ontario (R.B.A. Ont) with over 15 years of experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work closely with youths and young adults, supporting them in building skills that increase independence and meaningful participation in their daily lives.

She aims to create supportive, collaborative relationships with individuals and families, grounded in respect, empathy, and evidence-based practice. She approaches her work thoughtfully and individually, recognizing that each person brings unique strengths, goals, and challenges. Miska’s focus is on helping the people she supports to develop practical skills that enhance their confidence, autonomy, and overall quality of life.

Differentiation teaches discernment and discernment empowers autonomy. For those with quieter voices, these skills can be life changing. 🫶🏼

Pro tip if you’re teaching any skill: notice the change in my voice and attitude towards Nala when she is accurate and quick to respond, when she gets distracted, and when she makes a mistake.

I give her the most enthusiasm and treats when she is accurate to teach her “yes”, when she gets distracted I get her back on track with easier skills she has already mastered, and when she made a mistake I gave her praise and an encouraging regard to teach her that mistakes are allowed and we can still have fun while learning. I choose to pause in silence and wait for her to be ready to listen before continuing to push my wishes to ensure she is focused and willing.

This is different than what I learned in my early experience in the field, but I’ve noticed with anyone I’m teaching (kids, parents, pets) - meeting effort with playful grace leads to more success, confidence, and mutual respect along the way.

Meet Rania, M.A., BCBA, R.B.A, Ont.

I’m Rania Hanoudi, a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Registered Behavior Analyst (RBA) in Ontario. I specialize in working with children with autism between the ages of 2 and 12, helping them learn and grow in ways that are meaningful and fun.
My approach focuses on teaching kids how to learn, often through play-based, creative strategies that spark curiosity and confidence. I also have a special interest in supporting children with food refusal, guiding them toward positive and healthy relationships with eating.
Above all, I believe every child has unique strengths. My goal is to nurture their independence, confidence, and love for learning while creating supportive environments where they feel understood and celebrated.

Hi, I’m Ivana, Sleep & Family Consultant, Behaviour Analyst (BCBA, R.B.A. Ont.), and proud mother of two girls.

I hold a Master of Educational Services from Italy and a Master’s in Applied Behaviour Analysis, and I am registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.

With over a decade of clinical experience, I have supported individuals and families using an evidence-based, trauma-informed approach that is grounded in compassion, real-life strategies, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story.

Outside of work, you can find me swimming or hosting spontaneous kitchen dance parties with my daughters… usually in mismatched socks, singing off-key, and soaking up every moment!

I am passionate about creating meaningful change and am always open to collaboration, connection, and opportunities that support growth, empowerment, and positive outcomes for the families and communities I work alongside.
