A year ago, I finished my Master’s degree and stepped into this work with so much hope and honestly, a lot I didn’t yet know.

This past year has been one of the most humbling, expansive, and growth-filled chapters of my life. Sitting with others in their stories has asked me to sit more deeply with my own. To slow down. To listen better. To unlearn, relearn, and stay curious.

I’ve learned that being a therapist isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about being present, grounded, and human. It’s about holding space while continuing to grow within myself. 🪷

I’ve become more attuned to my clients, to my intuition, and to who I am outside of the role. And that’s been one of the most meaningful parts.

Still learning. Still growing. Still showing up 🤍

You’re not “too much”, you’ve just had to carry too much, for too long.

At Bloom Rising, we explore the patterns that keep you stuck, soften self-criticism, and support you in building a relationship with yourself that feels steadier and more authentic.

No pressure to perform. No need to mask. Just space to understand, process, and heal at your own pace.

Safety in the body isn’t something you think your way into, it’s something your nervous system experiences through cues, repetition, and relationship.

From a nervous system perspective, your body is constantly scanning for signs of “am I safe here?” This happens outside of conscious awareness. It reads tone of voice, facial expression, pacing, predictability, and whether connection feels available or withdrawn.

When people feel anxious, shut down, reactive, or numb, it’s often not because something is “wrong” with them, it’s because the system is doing its job: trying to protect you based on past experiences and learned patterns.

What actually helps the body feel safer is often simple, but not always easy:

✅consistent, predictable connection (especially with safe others)
✅attuned presence (someone who notices and responds to you without you having to escalate)
✅co-regulation (a calm nervous system lending calm to another)
✅permission to slow down instead of pushing through
✅experiences where your emotions are met without judgment or urgency to fix them

Relationally, safety is built in moments where you’re not alone in what you feel. Where you can be seen without needing to perform, explain, or minimize.

Over time, the body learns: “this is different now.” And that’s where regulation begins to shift not through force, but through repeated experiences of being with someone and staying safe while being fully yourself. 🤍🪷

Your inner critic isn’t the enemy, it’s a protective part that learned to be loud to keep you safe.

But harsh doesn’t ≠ helpful.

Next time it shows up, try this:
✨ “A part of me is feeling critical right now.”
✨ “What are you trying to protect me from?”
✨ “Thank you… but I need support, not attack.”

You don’t have to force yourself to silence your inner critic. You can understand it, soften it, and lead it with compassion.💝

Because growth doesn’t come from shame, it comes from safety. ✨

Big overhead lights are NOT welcome here. Last thing I want is a space that makes you feel like you’re in a hospital. NO thank you🙅🏼‍♀️ Our nervous systems are already dealing with enough. Small lights only kind of office please💡

What do other neuroaffirming therapists do to make their space comfy for clients? Let me know in the comments down below ⬇️😊

Reflecting on my trip to costa rica, I learned that the journey rarely looks the way we imagine it. We can never predict what will happen to us, yet, we can choose a path toward healing, awareness, and deeper connection that allows ourselves to grow as long as there is compassion and a willing heart🌿🤍

Self-sabotage often shows up as your mind’s way of keeping you “safe,” even if it backfires. 🔐 🧠 Using Compassion-Focused CBT and Internal Family Systems (IFS), therapy can help you understand your inner parts, soothe shame, and respond with compassion instead of self-criticism.

Together, we can break old patterns and guide you toward healthier, more empowering choices. 🙌🥗🤍
