Dear Clients,

We are grateful to be re-opening our doors on June 1st and truly appreciate your support and patience as we navigate through this transition.

By now, some of you will have heard from your therapist as we begin to book appointments again. We are doing our best to reschedule clients whose appointments were cancelled during the closure, but if you haven't heard from us in the next few days and you want to ensure you're booked, please feel free to email your therapist or call the clinic.

Due to the nature of our work, we have had to take extra precautions and have been working diligently to develop a set of protocols and make changes to our premises to ensure your safety and ours. Appointment times will be adjusted for staggered start times between clients to allow for enhanced cleaning protocols and to reduce the number of people in the clinic at one time.

Please take the time to read through this carefully BEFORE coming in for your next appointment.

RMT’s will be wearing personal protective equipment as per recommended guidelines by our College to minimize exposure.

RMT’s will be self-assessing daily.

Increased cleaning and sanitizing between appointments and staggered appointment times to maintain social distancing.

Please reschedule your appointment if you are feeling unwell; we will not be charging late fees for cancellations due to illness.
Before your appointment:

Your RMT will call you to complete a self-assessment the day before your appointment. We are required to speak with you 24 hours prior to your appointment.

Arrive on time and wait in your car or by the main door. Please do not use the buzzer or enter until your RMT greets you at the door. If you are not able to park within sight, your RMT will call or text you.

Limit what you bring into the clinic with you.
Your RMT will open the front clinic door and take you straight to the treatment room.

Come into the clinic alone unless otherwise discussed.

Maintain physical distancing while in the shared clinic space.
Masks must be worn at all times in all shared clinic space.
Please sanitize your hands upon entry and exit. Hand sanitizer will be provided.

There is a designated public washroom; however, we encourage the use of your own facilities at home before and after, if possible.

During your appointment:

· A new Consent Form will need to be signed, acknowledging that any massage therapy treatment involves some risk of the transmission of Covid-19. Although we are following strict protocols to minimize this risk, but it cannot be reduced to zero.

· Another pre-screening will need to be conducted verbally.

· Please keep your clothing and personal belongings in the plastic bin that will be provided and sanitized between clients. Please refrain from touching any other surfaces unnecessarily.

· Your RMT will be wearing a mask during treatment and we ask that you also wear a mask while face up on the table and after the massage before you leave.

· After your treatment, your RMT will leave and then knock on the door a few minutes later to make sure you are dressed.

· A wireless Tap point of sale will be available for card use. We prefer not to take cash at this time. E-transfers are also acceptable.

· Receipts will be emailed, not printed.

· Your RMT will es**rt you to the front door and open it for you upon completion of your appointment.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We know this is a lot to absorb and adjust to. It’s a big change for all of us and we want to keep you (and ourselves) healthy and safe.

This is a synopsis of our Official Return to Practice Plan. If you would like to see our full Plan, it will be on our website www.waterfrontmassage.com by June 1st.

Hi again Everyone,

We have received our required and recommended protocol list from our governing body as well as a letter from the PHO, Dr. Bonnie Henry. 😊

There are some fairly extensive administrative changes and physical space changes we have to make prior to re-opening as well as the procurement of supplies and equipment. While we have already been anticipating the PPE and have pre-ordered and acquired a few things, we still need to acquire others and deliveries are taking a very long time.

Because of this - and because safety for our therapists and clients and the minimization of risk is crucial - this will take time to do properly. We have tentatively set our Re-open date for June 1st, subject to being fully prepared by then. Stay tuned for more information in the near future about new procedures and scheduling modifications. We will not be turning on online booking for the foreseeable future, as we need to be able to control our bookings more tightly to accommodate these new requirements.

Thank you for your patience. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Most recent announcement:
Stores, restaurants and medical service providers looking to reopen after the Victoria Day long weekend will have to wait a few more days before they have definitive guidelines from the B.C. government.

During a press conference Wednesday, Premier John Horgan stressed the beginning of B.C.'s Phase 2 reopening plan next week will not be a “flick of a switch.”

“That does not mean that every hair stylist, every restaurant, every massage, physio, or chiropractic service will be open on a particular day, it's when we start that process,” Horgan said .

“WorksafeBC and the public health office will have guidelines later in the week, or perhaps even into early next week. I don't want to press them to do an unsatisfactory job, they've been working on this for a number of weeks now, and we can expect to see those guidelines within the next few days.”

These industry-specific guidelines will help individual businesses develop their own plans to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 amongst their staff and customers. While each business won't need to have their plan approved by the government, the plans must be posted publicly.

Horgan said the guidelines that will govern these plans have not been released yet, because “we want to make sure we get it right.”

“Worksafe and public health officials are finalizing the details on the guidelines for regulated medical services, for example,” he said. “For those practitioners who are awaiting those guidelines, I think they can take some fairly educated guesses on how they can protect their patients, how they can protect hygienists and other dental assistants, to put in place the parameters that make them comfortable as healthcare providers to deliver that service.”

Horgan reiterated that B.C. is not “going back to normal” next week.

“I don't think people should expect that come next Tuesday, everything is going to be back to the way it was,” he said.

“We're going to start the process to bring back industries that were ordered shut by Dr. Henry, and she'll be revising her orders at the appropriate time,” Horgan said.

Hi everyone,

No doubt you’ve heard that registered massage therapy is include in Phase 2 of our provincial Restart Plan which is set for May 19th onward.

At this point, we do not have an open date for the clinic because we still have to hear from our governing body, CMTBC, regarding protocols and recommendations. We have been working on acquiring supplies and equipment we anticipate needing to operate in a safe manner, so we will endeavour to open as soon as we safely can.

Once we have a date, we will be sending out an email to all existing clients, outlining our strategy and requirements and I will also update this page.

We are looking forward to returning as soon as we can.

Be well, be safe, be kind. ❤️

UPDATE re clinic closure:

Further to our post of March 17th, it will likely come as no surprise that we will not be reopening for at least another month.

Over the past week, we have received specific mandates from both Dr. Bonnie Henry and our governing body (CMTBC) to stay closed until further notice, as we all continue to try and keep this pandemic from overwhelming our health care system. Most manual therapy practitioners have received this same mandate, along with other service providers who obviously cannot carry out their services from a distance of two metres!

We will let you know as soon we can safely reopen and begin practicing massage therapy again.

Warmest regards and best wishes for good health,

Anne, Andrea, and Kristen

At Waterfront Massage Therapy, the health and well-being of our therapists and clients is of utmost importance to us. Considering the current state of COVID-19 and in order to protect everyone's health, we will be closing the clinic effective March 17, 2020 for at least the next two weeks.

This was not an easy decision, but was made in the firm belief we should be doing all we can to minimize exposure and assist in "flattening the curve" during this critical time. While there is no question that massage therapy is a highly beneficial health care modality, it is not a primary or essential health care service and doesn't qualify as "social distancing".

We recognize that some of you may be disappointed not to receive treatment in the coming weeks, but we could not live with ourselves if we unwittingly passed on Covid-19. The fact that this virus has a very long incubation period and can produce no symptoms while still being contagious has made this decision more obvious, but no easier.

We will re-assess in two weeks and keep you informed as things unfold. Everything is changing daily, and it's impossible at this point to know when it will be safe or wise to re-open. In the meantime, please follow advice from all the experts. We wish you all well during this challenging time. And we want to see you when the worst is behind us!

Yours in health,

Anne, Andrea, and Kristen
