🧠 Curious about what perimenopause does to the brain?

Dr. Lisa Mosconi is one of the neuroscientists I turn to for evidence-based, compassionate insights into how hormonal shifts impact cognitive health and aging. Her 13-minute TED-style talk is concise, clear, and incredibly valuable.

If you’re in perimenopause, know someone who is, or work with midlife women in any capacity, this video is a must-watch. Understanding the neuroscience of perimenopause isn’t just fascinating — it’s empowering.

🌠 Meet the Team Tuesday: Shelley Jackson ~ RMT and Entrepreneur

I am a proud, ninth generation Canadian 🍁 My maternal grandmother’s maiden name is Baillargeon; her family emigrated from France in 1650 🇫🇷 My paternal grandfather’s surname is Hnatiuk; his family emigrated from the Ukraine in 1913 🇺🇦 Yet, my maiden name is Jackson. How did this come to be? 🧐 As my dear friend Paula would say, “That’s a great question, better than Why.” Because that is my birth father’s surname. His father, my grandfather, was one of 20 siblings and he was a very independent soul. He wanted a last name that people could easily pronounce and spell. So, as soon as he was old enough to leave home, he changed it to Jackson. Increasingly I approach life, both personally and professionally, with the question “How did this come to be?" 😌

In 2005 I transitioned from an associate to the owner of Buena Vista Massage Therapy Clinic 🕊 That same year my application was accepted to explore InnerSpace and participate in a six-day full cadaver dissection workshop facilitated by Gil Hedley. Without a doubt, this has been the most impactful educational experience of my life 🧘🏼‍♀️

With an ever-present desire to learn, I completed the 200-hour, yoga teacher-training program on Salt Spring Island during the summer of 2015. Connecting the breath 🌬with the body🫀and the mind 🧠, while staying present in the moment, is an ongoing pursuit - one that I love and am naturally drawn to 😇

🌟 Which of your strong suits are you most proud of?
I am curious, inquisitive, and gregarious. The combination of these characteristics assists me in creating a genuine connection with people in order for me to learn how best to be of service and build community.

🌠Meet the Team Tuesday: Sendy Molines, RMT

I've had a few homes, but I'm proud to be a permanent resident of BC, Canada! 🇨🇦 I was born in Haiti, and grew up in the U.S and grew up loving fashion 👠, dancing 💃🏿, singing 🎵, and nature 🌅 passions that still shape me today!

At 19, I became a Licensed Massage Therapist and started my journey at Sandpiper Bay–ClubMed Spa. While helping vacationers relax, I felt called to do more—to truly support people’s healing and growth. That desire set me on a path that brought big changes and deeper purpose ✨

This simple Florida girl went from spa treatments to becoming a healthcare professional in another country. I moved to B.C. and in 2020, re-completed my Massage Therapy training and am now equipped with more information and skills to make a difference in people’s lives 💜

In 2022, I joined Buena Vista Massage Clinic, and I'm super grateful to be a part of the team! 🕊️ Here, I've met some wonderful colleagues and made some pretty awesome friends. I’ve been deeply touched by the incredibly caring and kind-hearted patients of this community, and it’s truly an honour to be their RMT! 😄

⭐Which of your strong suits are you most proud of?
Being able to cheer people up when they are having a bad or stressful day.

🌷Your favourite pastime:
Gardening. There's something pleasant and relaxing about sewing a tiny seed and watching it grow into a huge plant that you can then use for nutrition or to get more seeds to plant in the future.

📚Last book you've read:
I'm not a huge reader but I did enjoy the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

🌠Meet the Team Tuesday: Jocelyn Macklem, RMT

I was born and raised in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, where I first discovered my love for movement through dance 🩰 before transitioning into competitive swimming 🏊 . Breaststroke was always my favourite. My siblings and I trained morning and night, traveling across Alberta for competitions. Swimming taught me lifelong lessons in perseverance, teamwork, and the power of community 💪

At thirteen, my family moved to the West Coast 🌊 While it was hard to leave childhood friends behind, the ocean and the lush greenery quickly became my source of grounding and joy 🧘🏻‍♀️

In 2005, I graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy and began my career at Buena Vista Massage Therapy 🕊️ A few years later, my family relocated to Calgary, where I welcomed my beautiful daughter. Longing for the coast and the support of extended family, we returned to Vancouver, where I rejoined Buena Vista while also welcoming my 2 sons 🧡

Now, as a single mom of three incredible kids, life is full—but deeply rewarding. When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll find me cheering at my kids’ sports games, walking, jogging, hiking, camping, or spending time at the beach with friends.

🌟Which of Your Strong Suits are you most proud of
I’m deeply proud of my loyalty, my caring nature, and a newfound determination that continues to shape both my personal life and professional practice.
