Throwback to the Windy Point Crew a couple years ago. Luke and Cache must’ve been holding down the fort elsewhere. This first pic still cracks me up- lots of oddness to it😂 it’s fun documenting the years, as they have a tendency to blend together at times. A typical base camp will have a cook, wrangler and guide-
8 horses, maybe a dog and maybe even a cat or two⛺️🧲 📸

Kids Horse & Outdoor Camp — July 13–17 8:30-4:00 (Born 2014–2017)
$450 per participant

We’re excited to offer our first Horsemanship + Outdoor Camp this summer! This camp is built for kids who love being outside, enjoy animals, and are ready for a week of adventure, movement, and hands on learning.

Horses will be a meaningful part of the experience — grooming, leading, short rides, and learning how to be safe and confident around them — but you don’t need to be horse crazy to enjoy this camp. The heart of the week is getting kids outdoors, exploring, learning bushcraft basics, playing camp games, and spending full days in the fresh air. Horses are one of many tools we will use to do this!

The camp will take place at Fat Horse Ranch in the Ibex Valley, run by Champagne Pack Trains. Camp leaders are the owners themselves, bringing years of experience with horses, bush life, and working with kids in safe, supportive, high engagement environments.

Participants don’t need any horse experience, but they should be comfortable around animals in general — we also have friendly dogs and barn cats who will be part of the daily scene.

Kids must come prepared to be outside all day: lunch, snacks, water, and clothing for all weather. We have shelter to warm up and dry off, but if it’s wet, we’ll be out there playing in the mud and making the most of it.

We recently went south and took part in a long-range shooting school, and I couldn’t help noticing how many concepts overlap with yoga. Hear me out 😂

Some of the things we heard were:

“Everyone’s body is different, so we’re not all going to do it the same.”
“We all have different anatomy, so do what works for you.”

That mindset felt very familiar. In yoga, no two bodies move the exact same way either.

Then there’s the flow state—that place where you’re completely locked in, fully present, not thinking about anything except what’s in front of you. Total focus. Same feeling you chase on the mat.

The instructors were also big on breath control. Think box breathing. Slow, steady, intentional breathing to regulate the nervous system and sharpen concentration. 🧘‍♂️

And of course, the physical side of it: up, down, back, forth, repeating movements with precision. Into cobra, laying flat, finding alignment, staying square behind the rifle—not all twisted and cockeyed.

I’m not sure how many marksmen practice yoga, or how many yogis think about marksmanship, but I can say with confidence the two disciplines complement each other.

I always appreciate finding real-world applications for yoga. It about awareness, breath, focus, control, and presence.

I’ve been dreaming I am on the boat every night since we’ve been home. I often think about what it was like out on the water in the old days, something mysterious and nostalgic about it.

Found me a glacier and a water waterfall. The glacier is retreating rapidly, losing about 100 to 150 feet per year, and has retreated roughly 1 mile since 1984.
Geology: The retreat has exposed raw glacial moraine and remnants of a long-buried forest.
Landscape: The glacier is expected to completely withdraw from Mendenhall Lake in the coming years, potentially forming a new lake at its current location.
