This year for Giving Tuesday, Big Brothers Big Sisters will be choosing to support again, we are collecting and donating food, and a couple of us will be volunteering and helping out with distribution day.

We are asking our community to also consider supporting them, either through physical food donations, financial contributions, or by volunteering your time for other occasions.

Help us support a vital community resource, so they can continue to help the territory with food security.

Fiberoptic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is a procedure used to assess swallowing function and identify any abnormalities or difficulties that may be present. It involves the use of a flexible fiberoptic endoscope, which is a thin tube with an attached camera and light source that can be passed through the nose and into the throat. During a FEES procedure, a Speech-Language Pathologist (S-LP) inserts the endoscope through the nostril and positions it in a way that allows for a clear view of the structures involved in swallowing, such as the larynx, pharynx, and esophagus. The S-LP then observes the swallowing process in real-time as the patient consumes various food and liquid consistencies.

We all wish we were as tough as a Chickadee! 💪🐦
These little birds are not just adorable—they’re fierce, resilient, and full of heart.
That’s why the Chickadee is our clinic mascot and our absolute favourite bird!

Check out this great read from the Yukon Wildlife Preserve to learn why we love them so much.
