This makes me so happy. New Zealand has taken a major step for animal rights by officially recognizing animals as sentient beings. All cosmetic testing on animals in now illegal. The law reflects global awareness that animals deserve protection not just as property, but as living beings with the ability to suffer. This puts New Zealand among the leading countries when it comes to ethical treatment of animals. I hope many Countries follow soon including Canada.
