Prairie Sky Recovery Centre

Prairie Sky Recovery Centre Prairie Sky Recovery Centre is a privately operated 24-bed drug and alcohol treatment centre As a result, we have helped over 1680 clients to date.

Prairie Sky Recovery Centre was founded in 2008 by people who had learned to manage their substance use disorders and wanted to help others. After purchasing a derelict heritage building, Ardyth & friends renovated the 20, 000 square foot building with the intention of housing both men and women who were seeking help for addiction. She wanted clients to understand themselves and their disease of addiction so that they are able move forward to live a life of recovery. Utilizing a 12 step model, Ardyth began the development of our unique Emotional Health and Wellness program, aimed at educating clients on emotional regulation, mental health and the effects of trauma. Prairie Sky Recovery’s Vision is simple- We are a client-centered, evidence-based, trauma-responsive addictions facility. Our therapeutic, innovative, and holistic programs and services, assist clients to experience personal transformation from a life of addiction into a life of Recovery. Proudly, our moto is Healing Happens Here. We have daily intakes and have created a flexible client schedule that moves and bends to accommodate clients from start to finish. Early in the development of our unique programs, we understood that addiction is not a “one size fits all” scenario. Clients who come to us have experienced trauma, pain, mental health issues and often financial, criminal, and martial issues. To address the multitude of issues that plague our clients we have come up with alternative programming and a unique delivery method. In 2019, CEO Jacqueline Hoffman created extended program length from the original 5 weeks to include 8 and 12 week options. The increased time allowed clients time to do the additional modules that were created to address specific themes and issues present in those who have been affected by substance use.

I’m over 3 years sober & drank alcohol today.

This afternoon I was out for lunch with my friend & decided to get a mocktail to be fancy, instead of my regular oat latte.

When it arrived I took a picture of how pretty it was and took a few sips… instantly I had a gut feeling.

There is alcohol in my drink.

At first I kind of gaslit myself - maybe it’s just REALLY good de-alcoholized champagne, maybe I’m being “too sensitive”. I could just drink it… I mentioned it to my friend and decided I’d double check with the server.

I tried my best to enjoy my lunch but I felt the glass almost taunting me. Maybe it wasn’t alcoholic. Was I going to make the server feel bad? Will they think I’m being “extra” or annoying for double checking?

When the server came back around I asked “I’m sorry to ask but I wanted to double check that this is alcohol free”… and instantly I knew by her reply.

I had drank alcohol.

After over three years of fighting for my life to remain sober & healthy, I accidentally consumed what almost consumed me.

I felt a huge jolt of shame.

The server whisked the drink away & offered to replace it with a de-alcoholized one, which I gladly accepted.

But - instead of letting myself spiral I took a second and thought to myself… “but you didn’t keep drinking it”.

I didn’t keep drinking it.

I stopped.
I double checked.

I could have easily not said anything and no one would have known.

I respected my own sobriety enough to say no.

No.

A simple word I couldn’t use just a few years ago.

I called my husband and let him know, and he said he was so sorry & was proud of me for saying something, but also for instantly calling him and not hiding it.

Life is never going to be perfect, and sobriety is rarely “pretty”, but what’s the most important is the conscious choice & effort to remain true to the promise I made.

I did nothing intentionally.
I stopped and said no.

Today, although I took a few sips of alcohol, I was also brave and proved to myself how strong I really am.

Maybe the universe was testing me today.

Today I am still over three years sober when I easily couldn’t be.

🖤

Always feel strong enough to double check your drinks, friends. If I didn’t, I don’t know how the day would have ended. 🫶🏻

*reposted 10 weeks later & STILL SOBER 🖤

Being sober doesn’t look the same on everyone — and that’s okay.

For some, sobriety means never drinking or using again.
For others, it’s choosing moderation, harm reduction, or simply breaking one toxic habit at a time.

Some people go to meetings.
Some go to therapy.
Some lean on faith.
Some lean on community.
Some rebuild quietly, with no one watching.

Sobriety isn’t a single path.
It’s a personal decision to choose better—whatever “better” looks like for you.

No comparison.
No shame.
No timeline.

Just growth, healing, and the courage to keep showing up for yourself. 💛✨

At Prairie Sky Recovery, we believe in hope, healing, and the power of connection. This week is a reminder that recovery is possible, and together, we can break stigma and build a future where everyone has access to the support they need.

Today we Remember all of those who have fought, and those who continue to fight for our freedoms. We remember those who lost their lives in battle and those who carry the scars through their lives for us.

On the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month we pause and take a moment of silence to honour their sacrifice. It is at that time in 1918 the armistice was signed ceasing hostilities on the western front.
