Introducing my newest Modality Shockwave Therapy:
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment using acoustic waves to stimulate tissue healing, reduce pain, and improve musculoskeletal function.
It is a non-surgical treatment that delivers high-energy acoustic waves to injured or painful areas of the body through the skin using a handheld device. Despite its name, it does not involve electricity or electroconvulsive methods; instead, it uses sound waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.
How It Works
Shockwave therapy works by creating controlled microtrauma in the targeted tissue, which triggers several healing mechanisms:
Increased blood flow and oxygen delivery to the area, promoting tissue regeneration.
Stimulation of cell proliferation and release of growth factors, enhancing tendon and ligament repair.
Breakdown of scar tissue or calcifications, improving tissue mobility and reducing stiffness.
Desensitization of local nerve endings, reducing pain by lowering levels of pain-signaling chemicals.
Treatment Process
Sessions typically last 5–15 minutes per affected area.
Most treatment plans involve 3–6 sessions, spaced about a week apart.
Clients may feel mild discomfort during treatment, similar to pressing on a bruise, but it is generally well-tolerated.
Post-treatment, normal activities can usually resume immediately, though strenuous activity is often limited for 48 hours.
Summary
Shockwave therapy is a safe, evidence-based treatment for chronic tendon and musculoskeletal injuries. By stimulating the body’s natural healing mechanisms, it can reduce pain, improve tissue structure, and accelerate recovery.
