🎉 Day 10 of 10 – Advanced First Aid 🎉

Today marked the final day of our Advanced First Aid course — and what an incredible journey it’s been!

We are so proud of each and every one of our students. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment over the past two weeks truly showed in every scenario, every assessment, and every moment of growth.

You’ve earned it — and we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make with your knowledge and confidence in the field.

📝 Day 9 of 10 – Advanced First Aid 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

Today marked the beginning of practical exams — the moment where all the knowledge, skills, and teamwork our group has developed over the past two weeks truly comes together.

Out of respect for the focus and nerves that come with testing, we don’t take photos or videos during exams. This allows each student to fully concentrate without distraction — and gives them the safe, supportive space they deserve. (Here is a video from the start of class)

We’re so proud of how far this team has come — from checking pedal pulses and wrapping up scenarios in the heat, to managing complex trauma cases and responding with confidence. 💪

Tomorrow is our final day — and we can’t wait to celebrate everything this group has accomplished!

📚 Day 8 of 10 – Advanced First Aid 🎂

Today our team made the smart choice to tackle their written exam first thing in the morning — easing that test anxiety and clearing their minds for the rest of the week. ✅

After lunch, we dove back into scenarios, tied up some loose ends, and began cleaning up our learning space. It’s been a busy, focused day — and we’re proud of how far everyone has come.

As we always say, First Aid is like baking a cake:
🧠 Step 1: Gather your ingredients (knowledge)
🧰 Step 2: Put those ingredients together (skills)
🔥 Step 3: Bake it to perfection (confidence under pressure)

And now… the batter is mixed, the oven is preheated, and we’re ready to start skill testing tomorrow! 💪

⚠️ WARNING: Fake blood, guts & vomit ahead!⚠️

Day 7 of 10 – Advanced First Aid

Today we kicked things off with a solid review, then moved right into applying everything we’ve learned so far. After lunch, Brielle quietly snuck out to set up a full-blown Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) — a mock small plane crash with patients struck by projectiles. 💥✈️

The scene was intense, but our team handled it like pros.

(Side note: when Brielle was walking around with fake blood to prep the actors… almost everyone asked for some. That’s the kind of energy we love! 😂)

Huge thank you to our amazing victims — including the kids who participated with their parents present — for braving the heat and helping make this as real as possible. 🌡️🧪

We wrapped up the exercise with a much-needed group debrief, then moved on to Spinal Motion Restriction (SMR) and helmet removal techniques.

At this point, our crew has all the ingredients to bake their cake — and they’re getting ready to pull it all together for final testing. We couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come!

🚨 Day 6 of 10 – Advanced First Aid 🚑

We kicked off the week strong with a full review of last week's skills, putting them into realistic scenarios that tested everything we've covered so far — and this team rose to the challenge! 💪

Today we also introduced Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI) and practiced triaging patients into the appropriate categories. It was fast-paced, intense, and packed with teamwork.

⚠️ Viewer discretion advised — some of our scenario work looked very real today!

Our crew is doing an amazing job putting all the pieces together, thinking critically, and working through their patient assessments like true pros. We’re so proud of their progress and can’t wait to see what they do next.

🚒 A Stampede Weekend Shoutout! 🎉

Back in June during Stampede Weekend, Rapid Response Training had the pleasure of spending time with some of the amazing members of the Likely Volunteer Fire Department — a team we were proud to train earlier this year in the First Responder course and Scope of Practice update. 🙌

It was incredible to reconnect with them during the races, and even more exciting to see them host the 50/50 draw for both evenings at Thunder Mountain Speedway! 🎟️🔥 Their efforts helped bring valuable funds back into their fire department, supporting the work they do for their community year-round.

We’re always grateful to work with dedicated first responders across the region — and we’re even more grateful to call them part of our extended training family. 💛

🚑 Day 5 of 10 – Advanced First Aid 👏

We kicked off the day with a solid review of the week, then jumped straight into hands-on scenarios — and this team is absolutely stepping up! 💪

Highlights from today:
🎭 Stacey joined us and gave an incredible performance in a mock assault scenario — students practiced preserving the crime scene and tending to her wounds.
🚗 Mock MVAs (Motor Vehicle Accidents)
🚶‍♀️ Pedestrian Struck scenarios
❤️ Cardiac Arrests requiring quick thinking and teamwork
🦶 And yes — we even touched each other’s feet while checking pedal pulses and performing full head-to-toe assessments. No detail gets missed when you're learning to be thorough!

Our students are really starting to put it all together — applying the patient assessment model with confidence and care. We’re beyond proud of how far they’ve come in just one week!

We’re wrapping up week one with full hearts and excited minds… because next week, we’ve got a few surprises up our sleeves. 😉 Stay tuned!

🧠 Day 4 of 10 – Advanced First Aid 🩺

Today was a jam-packed day of critical learning and teamwork!

We covered:
✅ Spinal Motion Restriction using spine boards and clam shells
✅ Proper lifting techniques for spinal care
✅ Water & heat-related emergencies
✅ Opioid overdose response
✅ Crisis intervention and understanding our duty to report

In the afternoon, the team put all their knowledge to the test with realistic scenarios — working together, thinking fast, and supporting each other. 💪

We even had a surprise visitor… a curious little deer dropped by to say hello 🦌💬 — a gentle reminder of the calm moments between the chaos.

Tomorrow we’ll be building on everything we've learned, diving deeper into full-scale scenarios and continuing to grow as confident, capable responders.

🩹 Day 3 of 10 – Advanced First Aid 🚑

Today was all about musculoskeletal injuries — and our team handled it like pros!

We covered:
✅ Strains, sprains, and broken bones
✅ Impaled objects — including a high-impact scenario with Alana (thanks for being our brave “patient” with a stick through the abdomen! 👏)
✅ Splinting techniques — giving students the hands-on skills they need to confidently stabilize limbs in real-life emergencies

These realistic simulations are what make learning stick — they challenge students to think fast, act confidently, and work as a team. 💪

Tomorrow we dive into spinal injuries — another big day ahead!

🚨 Day 2 of 10 – Advanced First Aid 🩺

Today’s focus was airway management and respiratory emergencies, and this crew continues to impress! 💨

We covered:
✅ Partial & complete airway obstructions in adults and infants (made fun and hands-on with our choking vests!)
✅ CPR – 1-responder and 2-responder, with BVMs for both adults and infants
✅ Respiratory conditions like COPD and asthma
✅ Airway interventions using OPA and NPA devices

We were also fortunate to welcome Alana from OVERhang in Prince George to co-teach today’s session! 🙌

We absolutely love when we get to collaborate with instructors from across the province — sharing knowledge, skills, and learning from one another only makes our training stronger. 💪

🚑 Day 1 of 10 – Advanced First Aid Course 💪
Today marks the kickoff of our Advanced First Aid training! We dove right in with Anatomy & Physiology – setting a strong foundation for what's to come.

We’ve got a motivated and focused team ready to tackle the next 9 days of learning, skill-building, and hands-on training. It's going to be an incredible journey!
