𝗕𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿”! 💨

Carbon monoxide (CO) gets its nickname👆 for a reason. It’s odourless, colourless, and tasteless, making it impossible to detect with your senses.

CO poisoning is more common than many realize. Every year, hundreds of Canadians are affected. Here’s what to do if you suspect it:

➡️𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁, and his or her ABCs are unaffected: call your local Poison Control Centre.
➡️ 𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: call EMS/9-1-1 and get an AED.
➡️𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: start CPR using a barrier device so that you don’t contaminate yourself.

What a great few days with amazing teams!

BAFRS headed to Calgary this week to attend the Western Mental Health Conference!
Over two full days, our team dove into new and emerging mental-health supports for First Responders, connected with resource providers, and strengthened partnerships with agencies from across Western Canada.

This conference is an important part of our ongoing commitment to improving mental-health wellbeing for BAFRS and our partners throughout the North Thompson. Bringing home fresh knowledge, new tools, and stronger inter-agency relationships helps us continue building a healthier, more resilient responder community.

Pictured below are Sheila — our dedicated CISM member and Director — alongside Brielle from Rapid Response Training (Williams Lake). Two incredible advocates for responder mental health.

✨ Day 1 at the First Responders’ Mental Health Conference – Western Canada ✨

Today was my first day at the Wounded Warrior / First Responders’ Mental Health Conference, and I am leaving with a full heart and a fire lit inside me.

Being surrounded by people who get it—people who live the weight, the responsibility, the trauma, and the resilience every single day—was powerful. The conversations, the stories, and the support in this room remind me exactly why I do what I do.

I feel incredibly motivated to be the change in my community… to advocate louder, to teach with more compassion, and to keep showing up for the people who show up for everyone else.

This work matters. Mental health matters. Our first responders matter.

I’m so grateful to be here representing Rapid Response Training, learning, growing, and bringing these lessons home to help strengthen the Cariboo and every community I serve. 💙

Here’s to the rest of the conference and to the change we’re all working toward.

✨ Throwback Thursday! ✨

Here’s a little throwback to when our instructors officially got signed off to teach Transportation Endorsement — a huge milestone for Rapid Response Training and another way we’re working to keep our community safer and more prepared.

We also want to say a big thank you for your patience. We know we’ve been a bit quiet lately — but it’s for a good reason. We’re working hard behind the scenes on some exciting new things that we can’t wait to share with you soon. 🚑💙

Next stop: Calgary!

We’re honoured to be attending the Wounded Warriors Mental Health Conference next week! Investing in mental health, community wellness, and continuous education is part of our commitment to bringing the very best training home to the Cariboo.

Stay tuned — the best is yet to come. 🙌

PS: Thanks Emily for rocking your swag of it’s not easy being wheezy key chain 😂
