Babyvine Doula

Babyvine Doula Babyvine is here to provide birth and/or postpartum care to you and your family.

Services available are: birth and post natal doula, new parent and sibling care, parent respite, emotional support, meal prep and light housework. I am a mum to three almost grown up children and understand the difficulties of not always having family and friends around to support and help. I'm here to provide time and care to your family as you adjust to becoming a new parent. Whether that be emotionally or physically I am here to help before during and after you give birth.

We were never meant to live like this. Want to know why you’re so tired? It’s not just because your baby wakes all night. It’s not just because you’re nursing 24/7. It’s not because of your baby’s biological needs. It’s because we were never meant to live like this. In so much isolation. So alone. We were meant for a village. We were meant to lay in bed for weeks/months feeding and sleeping with our new baby while our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, cousins, neighbors, and friends helped out.

But there is no mother bringing us food and water. No grandma cooking the meals. No sisters playing with the other children. No cousins folding the laundry. No neighbors taking care of the house, and no friends providing support. Modern life is in constant conflict with childrearing and our biological needs. From returning to work at 6 weeks postpartum to little to no support in the postpartum period. The truth is many of us are just lucky enough to have someone drop a meal off but not lucky enough to have them actually come inside. And it’s not their fault. They don’t have a village either. There’s never been a mother to bring them food and water. Never a grandma to cook their meals. Never sisters playing with their other children. Never cousins folding the laundry. Never neighbors taking care of the house and never friends providing support.

Our babies are biologically designed to wake often and eat often. We are biologically designed for a village. Be easy on yourself and your baby. We were never meant to live like this.

Friends ❤️ It’s been some time.

I took an extended break back in the fall of 2022 hoping that I would embark on a new career journey that would take me to a place where I was able to expand my knowledge of healing and for a while, this was a wonderful place to be. Yet, at the beginning of the new calendar year I knew that it was time for me to take some serious action before I had succumbed to another role in which I didn’t feel like my true self.

It’s time for me to get back to what my soul needs and my true calling and what brings me the most joy - helping and supporting others on their journeys.

I am booking energy sessions, working on some exciting workshops and get-togethers that I know will bring forth the feelings of connectivity and courageously living life in many different ways.

Let’s Connect!

Yours in healing

Ida

'It takes a village' so we are told. This is great if we have a village to turn too. Many new mothers find themselves alone, or isolated, or to afraid to ask for help. If we look at the past, communities would take care of new babies and mothers. They would care for both as if they were their own. Nowadays we don't always have that community to support us. We don't always have our families around us to help out and sometimes we need to reach out for help and that is OK. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Doulas come from all walks of life. We often have different ideologies, belief systems, knowledge and skills but we are all here to support YOU during the most magical time of motherhood. Me? I believe every woman should have the opportunity to be heard, listened to and respected for her choices. I’m not perfect and I don’t have all of the answers but I’m compassionate, I care and I believe in a woman’s ability to mother. I don’t believe in making your decisions for you, this is your journey to becoming a mother but I will listen and I will hear you. If at times it gets overwhelming, I’ve got you. I will walk with you until you are able to walk by yourself and then, I will step back.

Today is . Post partum depression can sadly be missed or overlooked and it’s important to talk about it. There is no shame in asking for help and you are not alone. As a partner or spouse watch for the symptoms and if you are concerned talk to your family dr or healthcare provider ❤️
