Schlegel Villages

Schlegel Villages Schlegel Villages offers vibrant Retirement & Long-Term Care across Villages in Ontario.

We celebrate purpose, dignity, and connection, sharing inspiring stories that break the stigma around senior living. Building on a 60-plus year tradition of caring for seniors, 19 seniors living campuses across Ontario are owned and operated by the RBJ Schlegel family of Kitchener. Three generations of the RBJ Schlegel family have been involved in the seniors care field in Ontario dating back to 1952.

What does it mean to build a culture where people truly belong?

At Schlegel Villages’ Leadership Retreat, one message stood above all: belonging doesn’t happen by accident. It is intentionally created through values, behaviours, and everyday moments of connection.

“You’re all magic disguised as humans.”

From small “Plus-1 moments” to the way leaders create space for others, this story is a powerful reminder that culture is not what we say, it is what we do.

“It has to be created. It has to be nurtured. It has to be led.”

Mary Millar is a dedicated and compassionate volunteer who never says no when asked to help.

At The Village of Wentworth Heights, Mary volunteers regularly with a smile on her face and consistently goes above and beyond to support others. She helps with the general store, Resident Council, birthday cards for residents in Long-Term Care, calendar delivery, and so many of the everyday details that help the Village feel welcoming and cared for. She even helps clean up after programs without ever needing to be asked.

In a brand-new Village, it’s the feeling of home that matters most.

At The Village of Ridgeview Court, Eusebio found more than a place to live. He found connection, music, and a community that feels like family.

“I was never taught a note. I just play by heart.”

After more than a year away from the piano, he now fills the Village with music once again, sharing songs, stories, and wisdom with those around him.

“When I first came here, they treated me not as a stranger, but welcomed me as part of the family.”

This is what it means to live in a Village.
