As a RN, death educator, and in the interest of advocating for the vulnerable people who are seeking support in death, dying, grief and breveament...
Please know that "there is no universally recognized local, regional, or federal authority, regulatory or accrediting body that holds the liability or provides monitoring for end-of-life doulas" (www.nedalliance.org/about_eold_certification.html)
End-of-life doulas are not regulated, nor certified by a college. We are not one size fits all; however, we do often try to work together in the interest of protecting our clients from further harm after a loss, as well as to remain accountable to the communities we serve.
Please be careful in your search for support. Ask for credentials, resumes, references. Ask me. I will always readily share this information with you.
You are allowed to ask questions. You are allowed to protect yourselves and your loved ones. You are allowed to be referred to another end-of life doula, if you don't feel comfortable with the person you are currently with.
Take care of you. Your care and safety are most important.
