Many patients ask me how my program came to be and I would often mention specific names. Names that grew big enough that allowed the rest of us to grow as well.

These were the people that I frequently travel to just to get the next lesson or regroup among like-minded people. Hawaii, Switzerland, and San Diego.

There's an even smaller group of names that I was blessed to get to know on a personal level. Meeting regularly and glean even more important lessons. The ones that help carve out the paths that we navigate, trying to reach that next level of success, who we were meant to be.

This is one of the big ones and recently, he posted that his health has taken a turn. And with the tremendous outpouring of stories and memories, this is my humble contribution to a great man.

I hope to make it back to San Diego soon to share one more story. One more laughter. One more lesson. One more hug.

Her attention to detail and penmanship is better. She wants to read more. In sports, her hand-eye coordination has improved. Most noticeable is her confidence to overcome challenges. Earlier this week we got to graduate the wonderful human from the therapy program! They worked so hard making wonderful gains and succeeded with all their goals in here! Congratulations!!!

“Vision therapy helped me learn how to achieve my goals, for example I can now copy notes easier, my hand- eye coordination is better, my depth perception has improved. My writing finally doesn’t slant upwards or downwards. And most importantly to me I’ve come out of my bubble a bit and find it easier to make friends. I also thankfully have better time management and coordination and balance.”

Last week this wonderful woman graduated from our vision therapy program. She showed up, gave high level, crushed her goals, and made some really great changes because of it. Congratulations!! You worked hard and it paid off!

“When I came in to see Dr. Huang it was due to a dizziness/lightheaded issue that had really affected my life. It was to the point that I was really afraid to leave my home and travel anymore as my husband and I had loved to do, especially in retirement. My own optometrist, Dr. Vespa suggested that perhaps Dr. Huang’s vision therapy could help. I had certainly tried everything else and had undergone a lot of medical tests and specialist visits to no avail. I am very grateful to the team at Eye Care First for their help over this past year. I have now resumed travel and can go about my day to day feeling solid and balanced on my feet. I walk with confidence and am no longer in constant fear of falling/ fainting. The exercises and practice have helped me to achieve this. My gratitude towards Dr. Huang and his team(in particular, Tessa and Laura) cannot be measured. You have helped to restore my balance and ability to go about my day to day feeling as I did before all of this began.”

“Vision therapy has changed my life by making my school work easier to do and to understand assignments better. As well it made me more aware of my strengths and weaknesses in school work, dance and actual work. Vision therapy also helped me realize that I can do hard things and overall helped me to read better without confusion. Finally, vision therapy helped limit the headaches I used to get daily which eventually lead to more motivation to want to read and more motivation to do my assignments. “Vision therapy has changed my life in a multitude of beautiful ways. Before my vision therapy journey I struggled with a lot of pain, frustration and anxiety about my eyes and how they were working together on a daily basis. Many days I was exhausted because of my eyes were giving me problems through fatigue, strain and headaches, and I found it difficult to finish and have motivation to finish long tasks that were heavy on eye work (school projects, work, etc). When I started coming to vision therapy on a weekly basis I found myself growing more confident, and motivated to perform daily tasks which used to be a hurdle to complete. Through a long process of hard work and eye exercises I’ve found my eyes work together so so so much better than before. My pain and strain is gone and I can do and see so much more than when I began. Vision therapy has helped me grow as a person and has benefitted my life in so many ways that I’m so grateful for!”

“Vision therapy has impacted his life in a positive way. He no longer gets frustrated with tasks that used to frustrate him. He has become less clumsy in his movements. His coordination and confidence has improved and he doesn’t get carsick as much. Recently, he was told he no longer needs to wear his glasses, which made him very happy. The therapy has made a difference in his daily life.”

Going to be speaking to a group of optometrists at ICBO in a couple of hours about gratitude and how to maximize the vision therapy success for your patients. Last 12 or so hours have been interesting and sleep isn’t as much as i hoped for and still, i do see so much of what i have to be grateful for. I love the people in my life and sitting at this current table, these are pretty amazing people that played a role in my life in some way.

“Vision therapy has been very validating of my symptoms and has reduced a lot of anxiety. I enjoy going for walks again, can read books without falling asleep, and enjoy Christmas lights again without feeling disoriented or overwhelmed. Most to all of my symptoms have reduced or improved in some way. My quality of life and confidence in myself has increased. I was very frustrated at first with my visual struggles and now I couldn’t picture my life any differently. I am very proud and grateful for my progress. I look forward to reading more books and socializing!”

“About 18 months ago, my daughter started or had been having issues with double vision. It was noticed when playing violin and trying to read the music. She would turn her head so she would only see one sheet. She would also skip lines while reading. After one year of the therapy at Eye Care First her condition has improved measurably. Her eye hardly wanders and we noticed a steady improvement in reading both words and music. We are very thankful for Dr. Huang and his staff at Eye Care First for all their dedication and expertise in putting together this program. Thanks also for the positive environment.
