Red Dress Day is observed annually on May 5th in Canada as a National Day of remembrance and activism honoring the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People. We commemorate this day by hanging red dresses from trees, windows, and balconies to raise awareness about this critical issue.

While today is about bringing awareness to the issue, every day must be about ensuring the families of those effected have a voice, to see an end to the injustice.

Congratulations to "Team Ford" (sponsored by Local 200) on defeating a big, fast and very talented "Team Stellantis" (sponsored by Local 444) during the 3rd Annual Automotive Cup charity hockey game.

The big winner of the day was of course the Unemployed Help Center, which was the recipient of all the donated proceeds.

Special thanks to Dave Gignac and his support staff for organizing the event, all the players, sponsors and those in attendance, for the ongoing support to a wonderful community cause.

After 42 years of service, Darby McCloskey is retiring, and it’s hard to put into words what that truly means.

Darby didn’t just work for Local 200… he dedicated his life to it.

From his early days as a steward at Windsor Aluminum, it didn’t take long for the plant floor to recognize what kind of person he was. The membership rallied behind him and elected him Plant Chair, a role he carried with strength, fairness, and credibility.

When the Local needed a steady, trusted hand in benefits, Darby stepped up once again, serving at TMEP and later at WEPA, always making sure members were taken care of when they needed it most.

And when the entire membership needed leadership, integrity, and calm in the storm, Darby answered the call as Secretary-Treasurer.

He didn’t just balance the books; he rebuilt the foundation.

He didn’t just manage a building, he made it a place people could count on.

And he didn’t just hold a position, he became a steady, reassuring voice for the President and for every member who walked through those doors.

Darby was always there.

Setting up.
Pitching in.
Cooking hot dogs.
Making Christmas happen for the kids of Local 200.

Doing the work that often goes unseen …but never unappreciated.

That’s who he is.

A worker.
A leader.
A union man through and through.

And if you’ve spent any time around Darby… you’ll know he probably did most of it with a cigarette not too far away, somehow keeping everything running smoothly at the same time.

Darby, your impact on Local 200 will be felt for years to come.

Thank you for your 42 years of dedication, leadership, and heart.

Enjoy every minute of your retirement; you’ve more than earned it.

You will be missed
