Do you wonder what everyone is talking about when they bring up Neurodiversity? How do you know if the therapies you've chosen are Neurodiversity affirming? Do you want them to be?
What does it mean to support your Neurodiverse child so they may be autonomous and valued in all their wonderful ways? Neurodiversity means shifting away from a deficit-based view to an acceptance-based perspective, embracing your child's unique way of experiencing the world, and advocating for environments that accommodate their needs rather than expecting them to conform to neurotypical standards. Does this then mean your child doesn't need therapy? No. Does this leave you curious??? Then come on out and join us as we give you a brief overview of Neurodiversity and some helpful tips to make celebrations like Halloween successful and meaningful for your whole family.

Cost: $50.00 per family

Join us on the 27th! If you don’t know how to play, there is a lesson at 9am before the event starts.

Grab your paddles and join the fun at our charity pickleball tournament! It's the perfect event to meet new friends, enjoy the social side of the sport, and play a few exciting games in a relaxed setting. Beginners are welcome, so bring your friends and family for a fantastic day out. The Tecumseh Pickleball Association is even offering a FREE lesson before the tournament begins! In May we welcomed Paige to the Windsor Speech Co. team. Paige comes from an education background and has found a passion for total communication. Paige has completed her Master's coursework in speech pathology and is currently working on her thesis about AAC and parent engagement (HOW PERFECT!?). We snapped this picture yesterday before we left to present her very first customized AAC device to a client.. and was it ever a hit! Moments like these are what makes it all worth it! Welcome, Paige!

Wishing Dr. Gragg a wonderful retirement!

Thank you for everything you have done for the community over your decades of service to the Windsor community. 15 years ago I was an undergraduate student of yours walking into the Summit Centre for the very first time. You were my first introduction to autism and you (along with the Summit Centre staff) were the first people who thought perhaps speech therapy would be a good fit for me… Boy were you ever right!!!

So thank you, Dr. Gragg, you have impacted more lives than you will ever know.

…And that’s a wrap on autism month!

This month was mostly spent programming and coaching families on the start of their AAC journeys! I had so much fun with this last one as this friend shares my love for heavy metal music. It is such a privilege to help give nonspeakers and minimal speakers a voice.

Time: 4:00-6:30pm
Cost: FREE

Celebrate the Spectrum by joining us at the Fogolar Furlan!
-Get your hands messy in a sensory bin or by making slime.
-Make a craft at one of the craft stations.
-Meet Batman or watch a magic show by Jangles the Magic Clown!
-Visit information booths to connect to the community.
-Take a silly photo at our selfie station!

There is sure to be something for everyone as we come together to celebrate!

And that's a wrap!

What a year it has been!!! We welcomed 3 full-time staff members and our family grew again in August with the arrival of Madi's son, Antonio. A huge thank you to Madi, Nik, and Jordan - your passion for the families you work with inspires me daily. Thank you to the wonderful families we have been able to support this year. And at last, thank you to our amazing community partners.. I have really enjoyed forming new connections and friendships this year.

A reminder to our families that we are now closed and will resume services on January 2nd. Voicemails/emails will not be monitored over the break (okay, maybe once or twice!).

Have a safe and happy holidays and new year.
