Reality hit hard.
I thought the comeback would be easy. Motivation is there, the plan is there, the body… not so much.
Pregnancy and labour change your body more than we can conceptualize. I have successfully trained multiple mothers back to race shape postpartum, but I didn’t get so lucky with my return.
Training has been pivoted to no running. Walking, strength training, physio exercises, cycling and swimming only at this phase. I can admit that I cried when I was not cleared to run. I cried when I canceled my first race of the season. However this isn’t stopping me, I’m modifying to keep moving forward. I want my son to be raised to understand the value of exercise and physical activity, so we will keep moving ahead, keeping the goal of a 70.3 this year alive until told otherwise.
