May 5th marks two important observances: Red Dress Day and the International Day of the Midwife. Red Dress Day is a time to reflect and raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S), and it's recognized across Canada as a national day of awareness. It’s a powerful reminder of the ongoing need for justice and action.
At the same time, the International Day of the Midwife highlights the vital role midwives play in supporting maternal and newborn health.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
