Congratulations to our CEO, Jenn Jovanovski, on receiving an Alumni of Distinction Award from St. Clair College last night! 🎉

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Jenn reflected on how her journey began at St. Clair College and how experiences throughout her career ultimately led her to John McGivney Children’s Centre, where she now has “the incredible privilege” of serving as CEO. She spoke about how leadership is truly about “service… showing up, listening, and helping others reach their potential.”

Jenn also shared how deeply JMCC’s mission resonates with her, noting that every child deserves “the chance to start somewhere full of hope, and to go as far as their potential can take them.”

We are incredibly proud of Jenn and grateful for her compassionate leadership, dedication, and commitment to children, youth, and families across our community. Congratulations on this well-deserved honour! 💙

What an incredible initiative! Learning water safety skills can be life-changing, and programs like this help create more opportunities for children and youth with disabilities to build confidence, independence, and safety in and around the water.

Thank you to Kind Minds and iCanShine for bringing Canada’s first iCanSwim Camp to our community this summer. Wishing everyone involved a successful and impactful week at the pool! 🏊

NEW PROGRAM 📣 We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a new program this summer, in partnership with iCanShine.

Canada’s first ever iCanSwim Camp will be held 20-24 July at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre (WIATC) for individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.

For children with autism, they are 160x more likely to die from drowning than the general population of pediatric. It is the leading cause of death for kids with autism, with 91% of wandering fatalities caused by drowning.

This life saving skill is so valuable and if you want to join us in improving 30 individuals with special needs water safety skills, use the links in our bio to register or apply.

Volunteers can earn up to 40 community service hours during the camp. If you are interested in sponsoring this camp please reach out at kindminds20@gmail.com

Stay Kind ❤️🧠

Representatives from JMCC had the pleasure of attending the annual Women United Celebrating Women Who Inspire Us Luncheon today.

It was a wonderful afternoon celebrating leadership, community, connection, and the many individuals making a positive impact across Windsor-Essex. The event also served as an inspiring reminder of the power of coming together to support local initiatives and encouraged attendees to learn more about and get involved with Women United programs in our community.

Thank you to United Way Windsor-Essex for hosting such a meaningful and inspiring event.

This is such a meaningful step forward for families across our region. At the John McGivney Children’s Centre, we see firsthand how travel can add stress to already complex care journeys, so reducing that burden makes a real difference.

Kudos to Children’s Health Foundation and VIA Rail Canada for coming together to support families in such a practical, compassionate way. Initiatives like this truly help ensure children can access the specialized care they need, when they need it. 💛

We were pleased to welcome community partners to the John McGivney Children’s Centre today for a tour and conversation about future collaboration.

Thank you to Michael Silvaggi, President of St. Clair College, and Dora Cavallo-Medved, Associate Dean in the Faculty of Science at the University of Windsor and Director of WE-Spark Health Institute for taking the time to connect with our team and learn more about the work happening at JMCC.

Building on our existing partnerships with both St. Clair College and the University of Windsor, we explored opportunities to further collaborate on research, student placements, and innovative approaches to care, strengthening connections that support children and families across Windsor-Essex.

Partnerships like these help us continue helping abilities grow.

Smiles all around 😊🍪

Our JMCC team had a great time rolling up their sleeves to support the Smile Cookie campaign, decorating cookies, sharing some laughs, and giving back to our community.

This campaign is such a sweet way to make a difference, with proceeds supporting important local causes. We’re proud to be part of something that brings people together and helps support children and families across Windsor-Essex.

Huge thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and to everyone who grabs a Smile Cookie this week. Every cookie counts 💙
