Black History Month is a time to celebrate, learn, and reflect. ✨

The 2026 theme is “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations – From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.”

We’re honouring Black excellence and the many contributions Black communities have made (and continue to make) in Windsor-Essex and across Canada.

Join us in celebrating Black stories, Black joy, and Black leadership today and always.

December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

We celebrate the strength and creativity of people with disabilities — and continue to build a community where accessibility, dignity, and belonging are at the centre of everything we do.

Inclusion is everyday work. And we’re committed to doing that work together.

Today, we remember and honour all who have served.

We recognize:

> Veterans and active service members
> Military families and caregivers
> Indigenous veterans, who have served with courage while facing colonialism and inequity
> Black, racialized, and 2SLGBTQIA+ veterans whose histories have not always been acknowledged
> All who carry visible and invisible wounds

Acts of remembrance look different for everyone.

A ceremony, a moment of silence, a memory shared — each is meaningful.

If this day brings up grief, memories, or complex feelings, support is available.

FSWE is here with trauma-informed, culturally responsive counselling to help you care for your well-being today and every day.

Need to Talk? We can Help.

Family Services Windsor-Essex (FSWE) is a non-profit, charitable organization serving Windsor and Essex County. We provide counselling and support services to help individuals, couples and families manage their daily lives.

We help people deal with a wide range of challenges, from arising issues, to past events, as well as injustices such as trauma, poverty, disabilities, exclusion and discrimination. We provide strategies to resolve conflicts, address personal problems and help people live their lives independently in the community.

Our Goal is to help each person reach their potential as independent, active individuals in our community, so they can: better manage their daily life, become more resilient when facing challenges, and choose how they will participate in the community.

Need to Talk? We can Help. Call us at 1-888-933-1831 or go to our website at www.fswe.ca.
