DENTAL DISEASE
SIGNS-bad breath
red, swollen gums
yellow, brown crust on teeth
change in chewing habits
decreased appetite
drooling
loss of teeth
pawing or rubbing at face
CAN CAUSE-mouth discomfort
liver, kidney and heart disease
bacterial infections that can be transmitted to people through bites or licking
PREVENTION-start brushing your pet's teeth early
do not use people toothpaste as it contains fluoride which will make your pet sick if swallowed. Use a pet toothpaste
Feed high quality, larger kibbles the pet has to chew and not swallow. Chewing the kibble scrapes the plaque build up off teeth
In advanced cases a prophylactic (cleaning) may be required to remove the tartar build up caused by several layers of plaque that harden and cannot be removed by brushing alone.
