You know that moment on the intake form—or when I ask in session—“Any previous injuries or surgeries?”
It might feel like a throwaway question. But it’s not. It’s a clinical key. 🧠✨

Here’s why that question matters more than you think 👇

🔹 Scar tissue changes the map.
Old injuries and surgical sites can create adhesions or altered fascial patterns. Your body might be compensating in ways you don’t even notice—until pain shows up somewhere else.

🔹 Your nervous system remembers.
Even when tissue heals, the nervous system can stay guarded. That history helps me choose the right pressure, pace, and approach—so your body feels safe.

🔹 Pain isn’t always local.
That shoulder tension? It might trace back to an old collarbone fracture. That hip tightness? Could be linked to a C-section scar. Your history helps me connect the dots.

🔹 Safety first, always.
Some surgeries come with contraindications—areas we avoid, modify, or support differently. Your info helps me keep your treatment safe, effective, and tailored to you.

🔹 You’re more than a sore spot.

✨ Belief isn’t just personal - it’s neurological.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

When someone believes that a specific approach - whether deep therapeutic work or gentle relaxation - is what will help them heal, that belief activates real physiological responses.

🧬 Neuroscience and psychology show us that our expectations shape how the brain processes sensation, safety, and change. So when we align with a client’s belief system, we’re not just being supportive - we’re working with the brain’s own predictive coding and neurochemical pathways. ⚛️

It’s not about finding the “right” method. It’s about honoring the one their nervous system already trusts.

I can use my professional recommendation as an RMT but I do not get to choose what treatment style you feel safest with. ⛔️

🔥 Heat is like hitting play. It boosts circulation, softens tight muscles, and helps your nervous system exhale. Great for lingering tension and those “I slept weird” kind of mornings.

Just wanting to send a reminder during this busy time of year to take time to pause and unwind, whatever that looks like for you!

Here are some of my favourites:

🌳 being in nature
💪🏻 exercising / moving my body
📔 journaling
🧘🏼‍♀️ meditating
💆🏼‍♀️ massage therapy & osteopathy

Without these things I tend to:

😮‍💨burn out really fast
😷get sick easily
😴feel so tired & drained
🧠 mental health takes a hit

It’s this wonderful thing called ⚖️ balance ⚖️

Tough to achieve. Especially in the hustle and bustle of September !

So here’s your reminder ⬇️

✅We’re not going to get it right every single day.
✅There will be days where we fail and where we succeed.
✅ There will be days where you do 1, 2, none or all of your cup filling activities.
✅There will be days where we need to stay in bed & rest and there will be days where we thrive.
✅ and it’s ALL OK.

Make sure that you prioritize what will keep you, your body, mind & soul at top working capacity and the rest will follow 🙌🏻 but also, it’s ok to have moments of doing none and just resting in that as well.
