Today's chat is focused on the new season we're entering (you know cold and flu season) and how we can better care for ourselves through nutrition and supplements, all recommended from our favorite naturopath: .beth.nd

As fall fast approaches, focus on eating colourful root veggies that are in season- like beets & carrots! Soups and stews are a great way to incorporate these nutrient dense foods- flavour with chopped garlic or ginger for their antimicrobial and anti- inflammatory benefits. Don’t forget about fermented foods like yogurt, sauerkraut or kimchi to support your gut bacteria, or consider a daily probiotic!

Specific micronutrients to support a healthy immune response:

Vitamin D- test and treat to ensure you are not deficient! Vitamin D plays a role in immune system regulation, and we make much less of it in the fall due to limited sun exposure.

Vitamin C positively has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and helps support healthy immune function.

Zinc- in studies has been effective in reducing the number of colds per year in children, including less absent days from school!
