Welcome back Windsor! The weather is beautiful and our region is opening up a little. It is wonderful to enjoy but I urge everyone not to let down their guard. I see restaurant patios full and people everywhere relaxing their social distancing. We are still very much in the midst of a pandemic. Let’s learn a lesson from our neighbours to the south and be smart and stay safe.

At Ozvald Foot Clinic we are open for all patients but it is anything but business as usual. I am taking every possible precaution to stop the spread and keep you safe. This includes locking doors so only one patient or family at a time, masks are always worn by me and you, full PPE, disinfection of all touched surfaces between every patient or family, and a full plexiglass barrier between myself and the patient.

If we are all smart, life will get back to normal eventually! Don’t lose hope!

It is looking alot like spring! Make sure your feet are in their best shape to fully enjoy the great weather. Perfect example of why most feet should not be cast for orthotics while standing. Orthotics are ment to support the foot and limit excess motion. So no point taking the mold at the end of this excess motion because then your orthotics will be limiting nothing and accomplishing even less! Do you want orthotics that will help your symptoms?

Attention diabetics. A little prevention can go a long way. Routine foot care can help prevent ingrown toenails and infections. Excellent question!!
I had a patient ask me yesterday why he should wear his compression socks. He knew that you should when you have varicose veins or swollen legs but he didn't know why.
Since veins carry the old blood back to the heart, this blood has all the waste products or "garbage" in it. If this blood pools in the lower legs and stays there, this "garbage" begins to irritate the skin causing it to get thin and fragile, susceptible to ulcers and infections like cellulitis. Blood clots also are a higher risk, which can potentially travel causing heart attacks and strokes. So think preventative!
