Arginine CAN be a very useful aid in wound healing nutrition.

But is it needed for EVERY type of wound? Nope.

Research suggests that Arginine in a wound healing supplement can shorten wound time, and decrease the size of the wound.

In older adults this is especially important because we are already trying to combat increasing rates of malnutrition.

Malnutrition + Wounds = Slow slow slow healing rates

Catching malnutrition EARLY is the key to preventing premature mortality.

One of the biggest misconceptions I’ve heard over the years is that malnutrition is inevitable in older adults. But that’s simply not true.

Malnutrition is both preventable and treatable in most cases—if it’s caught early.
The problem? Most people don’t know what to look for.

Sure, the ASPEN criteria tell us to check two or more boxes to diagnose malnutrition.

But anyone who’s been in practice long enough knows the early signs rarely fit neatly into those boxes.

I put together my list of what to look for to detect malnutrition before it spirals.

Check it out here 👇

Having a hard time keeping track of your residents?

When I first started out that was my exact problem...

How do you keep track of hundreds of residents with deadlines like care plans, MDS, diet type, high risk status, weight changes, supplements... And the list goes on...

I knew I had to develop a tracking system, and I did!

This is the exact spreadsheet that I started off with over a decade ago and it still works for me today.

By tracking residents in one central spreadsheet you can always have all the information you need on hand!

After over a decade working with patients with pressure injuries, countless hours researching, and finding so little simple information for it...

I decided to create it myself.

You won't find all the technical jargon with no real application.

In fact you'll ONLY find practical and applicable information for daily practice here to heal wounds.

Sign up for our membership website @ clinicalnutritioncentral.com and you get access to:

- Exclusive webinar + Q&A period

Did you know that June is National Dysphagia Awareness month?

Dysphagia is very prevalent in the older adult population, affecting 1 in 3 older adults. Though I venture to say we see this number if not higher working with the elderly.

Common causes include:

- Dementia
- Stroke
- Head and neck cancer treatments
& much much more

Though many think all we do is change the diet texture and fluids of someone with Dysphagia, the nutrition treatment is so much more complex...

Taking a person centred approach requires a lot of work, consideration, and team effort.

If you want to see some of our articles on Dysphagia and how to manage as a Dietitian or in community, check the website for links to our articles!

🚨 New Research Review for LTC Dietitians:

Do feeding tubes actually help residents with advanced dementia?

A recent review says: not likely. No survival benefit, no improvement in pressure sores or pneumonia risk—and possibly more harm than good.

But the conversation isn’t black and white. Here’s what dietitians need to know before recommending enteral nutrition at end of life.
