Happy Pride 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This is a time to celebrate, uplift, and support 2SLGBTQIA+ communities while continuing important conversations around safety, inclusion, advocacy, and belonging. It's also an important reminder that pride is rooted in resilience, community, and the ongoing fight for equity and human rights.

We encourage folks to connect with local Winnipeg organizations providing support, resources, advocacy, and community spaces throughout the year. We've listed a few of those great orgs below:

With your support, we were Stronger Together ❤️

We are so proud to share that together, we surpassed our goal and raised over $6 million to bring both the Sage House and ACT programs closer to home. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our major donors and the many individuals who gave so thoughtfully.

Swipe through to see what we built together.

Today is Red Dress Day.

May 5 is a day to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited people (MMIWG2S). The red dresses hanging across our province are a reminder of real people. And the reminder that this violence is not random. Across Manitoba and Canada, Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirited people face disproportionately high rates of violence as a direct result of colonization and systemic racism.

At Mount Carmel Clinic, we take time to reflect on the lives lost and stand with the families and communities who continue to grieve. We support the call for justice and for meaningful action on the National Action Plan.

If you’re looking to honour this day, start by learning, showing up to community events, and having conversations with the people around you around the injustices Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirited peoples face.

Today is National Indigenous Diabetes Awareness Day, a time to raise awareness about the impact of diabetes in Indigenous communities and to reflect on the deeper factors that shape health.

Support is available at Mount Carmel Clinic, including a Diabetes Nurse, Dietitian, and Service Providers. We’re here to walk alongside community, offering culturally safe care and continuing the work toward health equity together.

Registration is now full for the Spirit Horse Teachings and Visit!

Join us all four Wednesdays in May 🐎

The Ojibway Spirit Horse has a strong connection with Indigenous communities. The horses lived partly in the wild and were cared for by the people while helping with daily life. After almost disappearing, they are now being brought back through care and breeding.

Over three weeks, you will learn the story of the Spirit Horse and its connection to community. You will also learn the Asemaa’kwe song and take part in ceremonies, including the Feast of the Drums, Smudge, and Pipe Ceremony with Elder Alision Cox.

In the fourth week, join us on the land to meet the Spirit Horses and the people who care for them. You will share songs with the horses and take part in a closing feast.
