What do you think?!
If you’re wondering what you’re looking at, the feet belong to a 40 year old patient of ours who has Downs Syndrome. Josh came to see us about three weeks ago when his mom and brother brought him in to see if I could help. As you can see from the photo taken 2 years ago of one of his feet on the left (both feet were like this), Josh came to see us looking like that.
He has a significant scoliosis in his spine which is not uncommon for people with Downs Syndrome. The rotation in his lower back as a result of this curve is very significant.
His family hoped that we might be able to help and my thinking was that it was likely that his issue with circulation could be due to his scoliosis interfering with blood flow and nerve signal to his lower limbs and ultimately his feet.
What did we do? After evaluating and x-raying his spine, I began to adjust him. The photo on the left is after adjusting him 6-8 times and was taken yesterday.
The power of a chiropractic adjustment, properly done, can have profound effects on the human body.
For Josh, this means he’s walking much better and with less effort, also seen by his caregivers. The more intangible is how have we changed his life? What might have happened to him if the poor circulation in his feet was allowed to continue? What limitations in his already limited life might he have experienced?
To be clear. I did not adjust Josh to treat his poor circulation in his feet. I adjusted Josh to restore more normal function to his spine and ultimately his nervous system. I would say we accomplished that goal in a short time. What do you think?
