First Steps Wellness Centre (FSWC) is a non-profit neurological rehabilitation centre
dedicated to enhancing the motor function and independence of individuals with spinal
cord injuries and other neurological conditions. Our mission is to improve the overall
quality of life for those we serve through specialized therapy and support. We Specialize in:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our closing on June 5th, 2026.

This journey has been defined by the incredible community we've built together, and while this chapter is coming to an end, the memories and connections remain. We are endlessly grateful for the support you've shown us over the years; through our annual fundraising events, through baked goods, through laughs - know all of it will never be forgotten.

Physical doors may close, but the community we built stays with us. ❤✨

📍We've been building a list of neurorehab resources here in Winnipeg. Please reach out to us if you would like the list, or if you would like to add to our resources. We want to support you in any way we can during this time.

🧡 May is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month 🧡

We’d like to share a couple of our MS clients with this post; they are strong and resilient human beings that never fail to work hard when they’re here at FSWC!

Here are some facts from worldmsday.org:

🔸Early diagnosis vital
An early diagnosis is vital to enable early treatment with disease modifying therapies that can minimise relapses and reduce future disability. Diagnosis also allows for lifestyle changes to help manage MS and improve quality of life.

🔸 Every 5 minutes, someone, somewhere in the world is diagnosed with MS.

🔸 30k children
MS affects children as well as adults, with at least 30,000 people under 18 living with MS.

🔸 Twice as many females
There are at least twice as many females (69%) with MS as there are males (31%).
