Having worked through our DENIAL and accepting our POWERLESSNESS, we now recognize that our HOPE is found in Christ.

Principle 2: Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him, and that He has the power to help me recover. “Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)

Step 2: We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. “For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13)

What is People Pleasing?

People pleasing is a behavior pattern in which an individual excessively prioritizes the needs, desires, and approval of others over their own. This can manifest in various ways, such as consistently agreeing with others to avoid conflict, going out of one's way to help others even at personal cost, and suppressing one's own opinions or feelings to maintain harmony.

While being considerate and cooperative are positive traits, people pleasing often stems from a deeper fear of rejection, low self-esteem, or a desire for validation. Over time, this behavior can lead to stress, resentment, and a loss of personal identity, as the individual may struggle to assert their own needs and boundaries.

Finding peace in the beatitudes of Christ!

One can uncover profound wisdom and guidance for living a fulfilling life. These teachings, delivered during the Sermon on the Mount, offer a blueprint for embracing virtues such as humility, mercy, and righteousness. They remind us that true happiness and contentment are not found in material wealth or worldly success but in the purity of heart and the pursuit of justice and compassion. As we strive to embody these principles, we cultivate a deeper sense of inner peace and connection with the divine, transforming not only our own lives but also the world around us. Through the beatitudes, we are invited to embark on a spiritual journey that leads to lasting joy and harmony.

Healthy boundaries are guidelines or limits that a person sets to protect their well-being and personal space. They help individuals define what behaviors are acceptable and unacceptable in their relationships and interactions with others. Establishing healthy boundaries allows people to communicate their needs and expectations clearly, leading to more respectful and fulfilling relationships.

These boundaries can manifest in various ways, such as:
1. **Emotional Boundaries**: Protecting your feelings by being clear about what you're comfortable sharing and what you're not.
2. **Physical Boundaries**: Respect your personal space and physical needs, such as needing time alone or avoiding physical contact.
3. **Time Boundaries**: Ensuring you have time for yourself and your priorities and not overcommitting to others.
4. **Material Boundaries**: Setting limits on lending or sharing possessions and finances.
5. **Digital Boundaries**: Managing how you interact with others online and how much you share on social media.

By maintaining healthy boundaries, individuals can create a balanced life that honors their values and needs, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-respect.
What types of boundaries have you set since you started your Recovery Journey?

Galatians 6:5
For each will have to bear his own load.

When does Burn Out Occur?

Burnout typically occurs when individuals experience prolonged periods of stress and overwork without adequate rest or recovery. It is often characterized by feelings of exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced professional efficacy. This state can affect anyone, regardless of their profession or personal life, and it's important to recognize the signs early to address and manage it effectively.

Taking regular breaks, setting boundaries, and seeking support from friends, family, or mental health professionals can be crucial steps in preventing and recovering from burnout.

Why is Recovery Hard?

Recovery is hard because it often requires significant changes to one's lifestyle, habits, and mindset. Overcoming challenges such as addiction, illness, or trauma involves not only physical healing but also emotional and psychological resilience. The journey can be fraught with setbacks, self-doubt, and the discomfort of stepping out of one's comfort zone.

Support systems, such as family, friends, and professional help, play a crucial role, but ultimately, the determination and commitment to persevere come from within. It's a gradual process, with progress sometimes seeming slow or imperceptible, but each small step forward is a victory worth celebrating.

Principle 4: Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.
“Happy are the pure in heart.” (Matthew 5:8)
Step 4: We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
“Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:40)
