“Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional”

Being human means that at some point we are going to experience pain and suffering. Fortunately, whether you struggle individually with anxiety and depression, or perhaps your relationship is in constant turmoil for any number of reasons, therapy can be healing and transformative. Service providers, such as physicians, EMTs, nurses, teachers, law enforcement, child welfare, and mental health workers are all highly susceptible to secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout. Caring for people contending with serious illness, pain, trauma, and loss has its consequences including derailing careers, destroying marriages, causing life-threating illness, and even resulting in premature death or su***de. Of course, the people they serve are also impacted when providers’ work performance is inhibited by these issues. Proven, evidence-based therapies have come a long way in recent years. With 25 years of experience in social work practice, including both as a CFS Supervisor and then as a Clinical Supervisor at a non-profit agency, I have experience with many situations and can offer various therapeutic approaches. I am also available to provide clinical supervision for clinicians in private practice in support of their work as well as their own mental health.
