Did you know that one of our favourite parts of an acupuncture session is simply being present and listening to what you’re saying (or not saying)?

So much recovery and healing occurs by slowing down and actually hearing people. Your breath...your heart rate...the tension you carry in your body…..your fidgeting...your connection...we’re listening; never judging.

This allows us to get to the root issue of where your ailments are coming from, and not just addressing the louder superficial symptoms that may be concealing the true problem.

Moral of the story? Open up to your acupuncturist Let it all out, shed some tears, speak those inner thoughts you’ve been pushing deep down so we can help you release it both physically and emotionally. This helps SUBSTANTIALLY with your treatments, and then your acunap becomes even sweeter!

Buddha’s Triangle🔻: this classical and beautiful point combination helps reduce anxiety, depression, and brings peace to our overactive minds.

What do these points do🤷🏻‍♀️?

✨Heart 7✨This point is named Shenmen (meaning the gate of the spirit). It’s the most useful point in treating emotional issues, especially excessive worrying and anxiety. It is also a wonderful point in treating insomnia, amnesia, cardiac pain, palpitations due to fright, mania, epilepsy, and even stupor.

✨Pericardium 6✨This meridian is literally called the ‘Heart Protector’. This point helps open the chest (shallow breathing, chest tightness, shortness of breath), protects the heart and calms the spirit. It’s very helpful in treating repressed emotions, sadness, digestive problems and insomnia.

✨Lung 9✨The lung meridian is directly associated with grief and sadness. This point helps relieve blockages in the entire meridian, therefore dispersing and relieving overall feelings of sadness, depression and a heavy heart. This point also helps ease breathing, reduces phlegm and asthmatic conditions.

Acupressure for 30 seconds on each point twice a day (you can use the blunt side of a ballpoint pen or a firm pressure with your thumb) may provide significant relief for anxiety, depression, irritability, eating disorders, pent up anger, and other repressed emotions. Acupuncture on these points has a more potent and long-lasting effect and can instantaneously make your feel calm, content and at peace.

I hope this information can help you, and this newfound knowledge can allow you to help others 🙏🏼

In Chinese Medicine, illness arises when things get stuck. We call this ‘Qi Stagnation’. Others may call it depression, irritability, rage, constipation, IBS, migraines and many other things.

One of the easiest and most effective ways to break through this stuck energy (besides coming in for acupuncture, of course) is to MOVE. Run, dance, laugh, spin, yell—whatever helps release that pent-up energy and get things flowing again. You might just find yourself smiling more, feeling lighter, and the world may appear to look a little brighter💫

Teething Baby?

Acu point ST44 helps reduce inflammation & irritability in the gums during teething (it’s also a great heartburn and reflux point for adults too)

Applying acupressure to this point works just as good as using acu-tacks. Simply press and hold for 5 seconds then release and press again for another 5 seconds. Do this for a total of 2-3 minutes & you’ll notice Baby becoming less cranky & gums less red

Did you know that acupuncture not only helps release physical blockages in the body, such as pain and injuries, but also emotional blockages like sadness and anger?

Treatments can cause a healthy yet unexpected release of emotions, allowing people to spontaneously let go and cry. This is all part of the body’s process of healing itself and releasing past trauma. By addressing both physical and emotional imbalances, and acknowledging that in many circumstances they are undeniably linked, acupuncture allows the mind and body to regain a sense of forgiveness and peace within.

Chinese medicine tips for staying mentally and physically healthy this fall:

Make a list of your priorities
This is best season to turn inwards and gain clarity about what really matters to you. You may be feeling quite overwhelmed by this seasonal shift. Fall heightens our innate ability to get things done, so try making a list of which priorities deserve your attention.

Do acupressure on Lung 7
One of the best points for strengthening the Lung organ is Lung 7. It a great point for a cough, shortness of breath and for nasal congestion. It’s also one of the most effective points for neck pain and stiffness.

Reframe grief
The emotion associated with fall is grief. This is the time of year to let go, grieve, and to reflect on any unresolved sadness. This can be an unsettling adjustment after the surge of energy & joy many of us experience during summer, but it is normal to feel somewhat somber and pensive in the fall. The inability to settle into this emotional shift, or transition out of it, may suggest an imbalance (acupuncture can help!).

Wear a scarf
Lung, the organ associated with fall, is considered the first line of defense against viruses. As the wind picks up & the weather turns cooler, the Lung organ becomes extra vulnerable. Protecting your neck is very important in the fall to reduce headaches and sickness.

Eat warm foods
Step away from the salad! I KNOW you think they’re good for you but the raw, refreshing salads of summer will not do you any favours come fall. Just as we need to begin keeping our bodies warmer on the outside, we need to remain warm on the inside as well. During this transitional season, try to eat warm, cooked food. Instead of cold cereal with milk, choose oatmeal. Trade the salads for oven-roasted veggies over brown rice. When cooking, throw in some onions, ginger, garlic or mustard—these pungent foods are known to benefit the Lung organ. Veggie wise, root vegetables such as beets, turnips, carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and squash are ideal. If you go for out-of-season vegetables, make sure they are cooked. If you’re craving fruit, reach for something seasonal such as apples, pears, grapes, figs or persimmons.
