📢 Regulation Advocacy Series – Post #2
🔍 Cost Effectiveness vs Salary: What Regulation Really Means for You
As we move toward regulation of the massage therapy profession in Manitoba, it's important to address a common concern: Will regulation increase costs or impact my income?
✅ The reality: Regulation is designed to protect the public and elevate professional standards, not to impose unnecessary financial burdens on therapists.
📉 Cost effectiveness: Most provinces with regulation have found ways to keep registration and operational costs reasonable through transparent structures and government collaboration.
💼 Salary protection: Regulation strengthens public trust, improves insurance relations, and opens doors to more healthcare integration—all of which support long-term income growth.
✅ College Fees: While a regulatory college will require a registration fee, RMTSMB is committed to advocating for a mindful and financially responsible budget during its creation. Just as we’ve kept our own association fees low and transparent for over a decade, financial accountability remains a top priority for the RMTSMB We want to ensure the development of the college is not a copy-and-paste of wasteful spending models currently being experienced elsewhere. Instead, we will push for a cost-effective, inclusive budget that reflects the needs, realities and the progression of massage therapists in Manitoba.
🕰️ Flexible Careers: Massage therapy has always been a profession that supports a wide range of work styles—from full-time clinical practice to part-time schedules that fit around family, school, or other commitments. Regulation won’t change that.
💬 Let’s focus on the facts, not fear. RMTSMB will continue to represent your voice, keeping costs reasonable and the profession accessible for all.
