I am deeply disappointed by the Manitoba Physiotherapy Association’s recent attempt to undermine the athletic therapy profession through the spread of misinformation and fear-based messaging.
As allied healthcare professionals, we should be working collaboratively to support the well-being of the public—not engaging in divisive tactics that erode trust and professionalism within our fields.

This conduct is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the values we are all expected to uphold.

Myofascial cupping

It kind of feels like the tissue is being decompressed.

It feels like more movement and space after a treatment.

It brings blood flow to the area.

And it interacts with the nervous system to change your pain levels.

Backwards goal setting.

It’s March and I have a 10 k in 2 months.

To plan how to get there, I start with my end goal. 10 k on May 10th.

And then I work backwards.

I ask myself, how much time can I commit to this in a day, and how many days per week can I commit to it?
What could possibly interfere with teaching each step, and what can I do to avoid that, or, make room for that?

AND how can I do this without injuring myself???

I filled in March (in pencil) and will get to April once I know what I can commit & stick to.

How do you plan your running or exercise goals?

I didn’t run much this winter.

And by not much, I mean maybe a handful of times.

And by a hand full of of times, I mean less than 10 min each time.

And by winter, I mean since the 10 k I did in June.

And it’s not that I have been inactive, just not running.

So after essentially an 8 month hiatus from running, I’m starting slow and working my way back to long distance as I have officially registered for a 10 k on May 10th! 🏃‍♀️ 💪

What have I done so far?
Jan/Feb I have been doing 10 min sprints 1x/week.

At the beginning of March I realized the 10 k was coming up quick so I started on my backwards goal setting - see my next post!

All or None? or All or Some?

I have never liked the idea of “all or none”. It has never sat well with me.

We know that movement snacks are important.

And we know that movement snacks can be helpful.

So why is there this notion that if we go to the gym we have to do the whole routine, or none of the routine?

Let’s reframe this.

Let’s be okay with some.

Because 10 minutes is better than 0 minutes.

I can not recall who it was that I first heard “all or some” from. I think it was at one of the pelvic health courses 🙈 If it was you, please tell me! 🙂

Shoes. What are the “best” shoes for working out?

Clients often come in telling me they have foot pain, but they have really good shoes so they don’t understand WHY they have foot pain?!

Most of the time, my definition of a good shoe is totally different from what society defines as a “good” shoe.

I would define a good shoe as something that is
WIDEst at the toes
has a THIN sole
FLAT (no heel lift) &
FLEXIBLE (the shoe can move with your foot).

How do you define a good shoe?
