We’re excited to help share this opportunity from the First Nation Harm Reduction Network of Manitoba (FNHRNM)!

FNHRNM is currently seeking submissions for their Logo Design Contest and inviting First Nations artists, designers, youth, and community members across Manitoba to create a logo that reflects the voices, values, strength, and vision of the communities they support.
The selected design will receive a $1,000 honorarium and will be featured across FNHRNM platforms, resources, and communications.

Let’s Get Real: HIV and Aging at a Glance

Date and Time: Thursday, June 4, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Overview: In Canada, HIV is now a chronic and treatable condition, and many people living with HIV are aging into older adulthood for the first time. What does aging with HIV look like? What supports are needed to age with dignity? How can service providers and frontline workers be equipped to offer stigma‑free, compassionate care? Join Realize for an engaging conversation and learn more about their research and resources on HIV and aging. Hear from a panel of people aging with HIV on their experiences.

Presenters: Realize is the leading national, non-profit, organization in Canada working to improve the health and well-being of people living with HIV and other episodic disabilities, across the lifespan, through integrated research, education, policy, and practice. We will hear from Jocelle Refol, HIV and Aging Initiatives Lead, and Christina Lessels, Community-Based Research Coordinator. We will also be hearing from a panel of people with lived experience of HIV.

Introducing this year’s Pride Winnipeg Festival Grand Marshals! 2/2

Jim Kane
Has been involved in many rainbow community rights issues since coming out in 1983. Coming out at CN rail that year as well.
Marched with 25 other folks in First Pride parade in 1987. Living with HIV for over 40 years and involved in many local provincial and national AIds service organizations. Awarded the Queens Diamond Jubillee Medal for that service.
Involved in preliminary Place of Pride Committee and can hardly wait for final completion.

Jim Kane
Il s’est engagé dans de nombreuses causes liées aux droits de la communauté LGBT depuis son coming out en 1983. C’est cette même année qu’il a fait son coming out au sein de la compagnie ferroviaire CN.
Il a défilé avec 25 autres personnes lors de la première parade de la Fierté en 1987. Il vit avec le VIH depuis plus de 40 ans et s’implique dans de nombreuses organisations locales, provinciales et nationales de lutte contre le sida. Il a reçu la Médaille du jubilé de diamant de la reine pour son engagement.
Il participe au comité préparatoire de Place of Pride et attend avec impatience l’achèvement du projet.
