Mental illness affects an estimated 1.2 million children and youth in Canada. Depression, anxiety and OCD are among the most common mental disorders in children and youth.

CHRIM investigator Dr. Abdullah Maruf is currently recruiting for a study that will help personalize treatment for children and youth who have taken SSRI antidepressants. Participants would be required to complete a quick survey and provide a saliva sample for genetic testing.

Congratulations to CHRIM member Dr. Anna Chudyk, who received $50,000 through the CHRIM Operating Grant competition, generously supported by the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

Dr. Chudyk's project will study how to better transition youth living with congenital heart disease from pediatric to adult care. Upon completion of this study, researchers expect to have a first version of a new, patient-designed transition care program that will better the lives of those living with CHD, as well as their families and care partners.
