Did you know the Healthy Smile, Happy Child (HSHC) initiative has been around for 25 years!?

HSHC has a dedicated team that's leading the charge in the fight against early childhood caries. You can find them across the province sharing tips on how to keep kid's teeth healthy and prevent tooth decay. Sometimes they even bring along their special friend, the Tooth Fairy!

Happy 25th anniversary to the Healthy Smile Happy Child team here at CHRIM! For the past 25 years, the Healthy Smile Happy Child initiative has been leading the charge in Manitoba against Early Childhood Caries (ECC), also known as childhood tooth decay or cavities.

The program is a multi-disciplinary outreach initiative that engages communities in ECC prevention strategies and promotion of early childhood oral health. ECC is a destructive, yet preventable, form of tooth decay in young children, particularly those living in disadvantaged populations.

The holidays are a wonderful time to donate to food banks, and here in Manitoba, thousands of people do just that. When donating this holiday season, it’s important to also think about those who have allergies.

CHRIM researcher, Dr. Jennifer Protudjer, has extensively studied families with allergies and says food banks often have limited options for them.
