Today we are sharing some tips on a great lower body exercise.
THE LUNGE.
This is an intermediate to advanced version, as it is a walking lunge.
It's important to continously progress your training program to ensure your body is always challenged, which will create results. If you have been doing the same exercises for 6-8 weeks it's time to switch it up!
A simple progression is to move from stationary lunges to a walking lunges. Check out the video for details on this great exercise!

It's June and the weather is finally on our side! So our move of the month is going to take advantage of that. The move of the month is walking! Walking is a low cost and effective way to get your 150 minutes of physical activity each week. Not only that, there are massive health benefits to walking!
In the short term, walking can improve your mood and increase energy. Long term health benefits are reducing stress which in turn can help reduce high blood pressure and help manage high blood sugars in those with type 2 diabetes.
A few things to keep in mind while walking... try your best to wear comfortable/proper fitting footwear, bring water to sip on to stay hydrated while you walk and aim for a minimum of 10 minutes each walking bout. Check out the CTV News feature of the benefits of walking for more information.

Abdominal exercises giving you low back pain? Try putting your lower arm in the natural curve created by a lumbar spine. Make sure your head is supported by your opposite hand to avoid any neck flexion when you do the movement. In other words make sure you don't tuck your chin towards your chest. Contract your abdominal muscles and start lifting your shoulders, neck and head up off the ground, it will produce a small range of motion but you'll definitely feel your abs working. Make sure you exhale all the air out of the reach the top of the movement to really get that final squeeze. Try it out and let me know how it went! #activeliving #workoutgrind #motivationnation
