College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba

College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Protecting and serving the public interest through registered nursing regulation.
(1)

The purpose of regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that RNs practice in a safe, competent and ethical manner. We carry out our work in a number of ways:

Setting standards for registered nursing education, registration and practice:
• We approve nursing education programs.
• We have a registration process to ensure registered nurses are qualified and competent.
• We set the standards o

f nursing practice that all RNs are required to meet every day.
• We set and monitor continuing competence requirements, in which RNs demonstrate their efforts to remain current in their
nursing knowledge. Supporting registered nurses in meeting the standards:
• We provide educational opportunities and resources.
• We provide practice consultation services. Taking action when the standards are not met:
• We receive and handle complaints about registered nursing practice and take appropriate action with fairness and transparency.

Happy Nursing Week from College staff and Council. Thank you for your contribution to continued quality care across the province.

05/07/2026

The College of Registered Nurses will deliver a formal public apology to First Nations, Inuit and Métis for its role in the systemic discrimination and generational harms that were and continue to be experienced by First Nations, Inuit and Métis in health care. As the largest health care profession in Manitoba, registered nurses have been part of the problem and must be part of the solution in ensuring safe care for everyone who accesses care in our province.

The apology will be live streamed on May 13 at approximately 10:00 a.m. You can access the stream here:
