Borderline Personality Disorder Association Manitoba Inc. (“BPD AMI”) was incorporated in 2024 to support people with BPD and their loved-ones in Manitoba through:
- Increasing awareness and reducing the stigma around BPD,
- Peer support groups and social engagement,
- Educational resources and seminars online and in person,
- Improving access to treatment and therapy,
- Lobbying to improve the lives of people with BPD, and
- Harm reduction and crisis management strategies.
People with BPD often have intense mood swings, impulsive behaviour, unstable relationships, fear of abandonment, and a distorted self-image, which often leads to self-harm (including su***de).
BPD affects approximately 5% of the Canadian population.
