Today is Good Samaritan Day!

A reminder that helping someone in need can make a real difference. In Canada, the Good Samaritan principle encourages people to step in during an emergency without fear of legal consequences, provided they act responsibly and within their training. Even small, timely actions, like calling for help, providing basic first aid, or staying with someone until help arrives, can save lives. Be prepared, know your limits, and remember: doing something is always better than doing nothing.

When emergencies happen, people act with the best intentions, but good intentions don’t always mean good first aid.

Common mistakes often come from outdated advice, myths, or panic in high-stress moments. Knowing proper first aid helps you respond safely, confidently, and in ways that truly reduce harm. Preparation and training make all the difference when it matters most. Take a first aid course to build the knowledge and confidence needed to help safely in emergencies.

On Monday, February 16th, we will honour Louis Riel Day

Louis Riel was an honorary first premier of Manitoba who fought for the rights of Métis citizens and is widely recognized for the role he played in Manitoba joining the Dominion of Canada in 1870. The positive impact of his leadership continues to be felt across our province today.

Our St. John Ambulance Winnipeg and Brandon office will be closed for the day as we take time to reflect and spend meaningful time with our families.

We had an incredible time at CSAM this year!

Our team was proud to be on-site with a booth, connecting with attendees and running hands-on first aid drills and Basic First Aid throughout the show. It was great to see so many participants eager to refresh their skills, ask questions, and step in to practice life-saving skills.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn, engage, and support the importance of first aid.

We’re already looking forward to next year!
