In 2021, private massage therapy, chiropractic and physiotherapy benefit claims were paid in Canada as follows: $1.1 billion for massage therapy, $0.7 billion for physiotherapy, and $0.7 billion for chiropractic.

💡 Yes, massage therapy exceeded both physiotherapy and chiropractic claims!

**important update **
This is never a post a business likes to make but unfortunately it’s time…

I will be increasing the cost of all treatments by $5 per massage effective JANUARY 1, 2024 (both mobile & in office)

If you currently have an appointment after that date & would like to cancel please let me know.

I will continue to direct bill your insurance as always. and in doing so it’s a mere $1.05 increase to your 60min treatments. Any questions don’t hesitate to reach out.

Despite its popularity in providing therapeutic benefits, some misconceptions still exist. One is that massage therapy is a luxurious activity only reserved for special occasions or vacations.

While it can provide a luxurious experience — especially in a spa setting, wrapped in a cozy robe — massage therapists work in various environments, including physiotherapy and chiropractic clinics, and even at your home providing mobile massage.

Massage therapy can greatly benefit your wellness journey and significantly improve several conditions. From treating acute and chronic conditions to improving your body's healing process and releasing stress, massage therapy has potential beyond relaxation!

Your NHPC practitioner is a professional. During treatment, your therapist is focused on...
- the way your body reacts to treatment
- maintaining open communication with you
- meeting your health goals

NHPC practitioners are committed to their profession and treat clients with respect, dignity, and compassion. So, remember that bodily functions are human, and a growling stomach or dozing off during treatment is nothing to be embarrassed about!

“Why am I told to drink water after every massage?”

Your massage therapist will probably tell you to drink lots of water after your treatment. There are a few reasons for this!

Massage promotes the circulation of both the blood and the lymphatic system. During a massage, your therapist works out any muscle tension, which releases metabolic waste. That increased circulation and muscle kneading promote fluid pumping out of the soft tissue and into the circulatory system, which heads to the kidneys to be flushed from the body.

Drinking water supports the elimination of toxins from the body, replenishes lost fluids, aids in healthy circulation, and helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the muscles and organs.

Staying hydrated can be especially important if you receive a deep tissue massage, as the increased intensity can cause further dehydration.

Well, now you know! Listen to your practitioner and drink water. 💧

“Do I have to talk during treatment?”

First time clients may wonder what the proper “etiquette” is during their first massage therapy session or holistic health treatment.

While it may feel awkward for some to remain quiet during treatment, it is not unusual to embrace the silence to truly relax into your treatment.

Your practitioner will speak with you beforehand to discuss what you are looking to gain from your session. Of course, you should always speak up during the session if something hurts or you have a question.

Your practitioner wants you to enjoy the treatment in whatever way feels best and most comfortable. This means both conversation and silence is welcome. Your practitioner will take your lead.
