Register now for the 2025 Massage Therapy Summit on October 20th! There are four great presentations, including Katherine Styrchak and her presentation: Lymphedema: What’s the Big Deal?

This webinar will look at the causes and treatment of lymphedema and lipedema along with management strategies for these conditions. We will discuss the difference between “lymphatic drainage massage” and “lymphedema therapy”. At the end of the hour, RMTs will feel confident in knowing the questions to ask patients with lymphedema and lipedema, when to refer out, where to find a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and know that it’s ok to shift gears during a massage and still give an effective treatment.

The most unique and hands-on lab is returning this August. The Applied Human Anatomy Cadaver Lab integrates three core learning experience:
° Musculoskeletal Palpation for Massage Practice
° Exploration of Organ Systems and Neurological Structures
° Live Dissection Demonstrations

Designed for massage therapists and students, kinesiology, physical therapy and other anatomy-related fields, this lab fosters respectful inquiry, hands-on exploration and integrative thinking.

Regulation Update! Earlier in January, the Provincial Government completed work on the draft regulation for Massage Therapy. This is exciting and historic news as regulation has been a long-standing goal that MTAM has been working toward since our incorporation.

Thank you to all members who answered the recent survey. You can find key findings on the members’ area of the website, including feedback which will help MTAM support RMTs during the transition, members understanding of regulation and more.

MTAM will continue to provide strong leadership as the next steps in the regulatory process are completed. We are committed to helping RMTs have as smooth a transition as possible into the new Regulatory College and to do what we can to help ensure that Manitobans have continuity of massage therapy care. MTAM will also continue to advocate for reasonable registration fees.
