Developed over sixty years ago in Hungary by Dr. Andras Peto, Conductive Education maximizes the independance and mobility of children and adults with disabilities including cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injuries, stroke, Parkinson's disease and spina bifida. It is delivered in a group environment by specially trained instructors, called conductors, to help clients gain or regain physical mobility, increased confidence and functional independence.

Today, the third Thursday in February is National Conductive Education Awareness Day! Here at the Movement Centre of Manitoba, Conductive Education is the core of what we do.

Conductive Education is an educational therapy model for teaching and developing new movement patterns for children and adults with neurological movement disorders. Within CE, we have a number of progressional programs that lead into one another to teach independence and confidence.

Last week we welcomed Mark and Sharon Evans to the Movement Centre for a tour, and sat down to ask about what inspired them to spearhead the Olivia Steadman Endowment Fund Matching Campaign, which raised a record-setting $211,000 for the Centre. 💙

On December 27, Olivia Steadman sang both anthems at the Winnipeg Jets game for the second time. Inspired by her story, Mark and Sharon Evans pledged to match donations up to $100,000 to the Movement Centre of Manitoba’s Olivia Steadman Endowment Fund.

We are thrilled to announce that the matching campaign raised over $211,000! Thank you to everyone who generously donated, your donation will continue to help children and adults like Olivia for years to come.

An extra special thank you to Sharon and Mark Evans, your kindness and incredible generosity will have a lasting impact on the life-changing work the Centre provides to individuals living with neuromotor disabilities. 💙
