Thank you to everyone who shared his post, visited this page and listened to his story. We have great news! Lewis received a kidney transplant on September 10, 2018 from an incredible person and living donor, Becky. Both Lewis and Becky are recovering well!

Although this was a happy ending for our family, there are still so many out there in need of organ donations. Please seriously consider registering on the deceased donor list and if you were considering a live donation to Lewis, consider registering on the live donor list for someone else in need.

If you live in Manitoba here is more information on the deceased donor list: https://www.signupforlife.ca/

I'm a Father of 3, and I need a Kidney

How very strange if you think about it Facebook barely existed ten years ago and now maybe one of you have the answer.

Thirty years ago, I started having Kidney stones, and over the years I have passed over 150 stones. These stones plus other complications have destroyed my kidneys and I now have end stage renal disease -- i.e. kidney failure.

I am on Dialysis twice per week but it is only a bandaid -- with people slowly deteriorating and dying within five to seven years. With a live donor Kidney your life completely changes and you get to go about a fairly normal life.

So here's my problem: I had a live kidney donor -- a random acquaintance who wanted to give me back my life. We went to Mayo Clinic for assessment. I was eligible for a transplant, however he was not able to donate due to health reasons.

As some of you may know my kids have already lost their mother to cancer, I don't want them to lose their other parent to kidney disease.

I am looking for someone to give me a kidney ....whoa there I said it... Donating a Kidney is an incredibly altruistic act, but one that is truly meaningful in the life of the recipient and their family.

Kidney disease is becoming all too prevalent and most people know nothing about it... Remember Dialysis is not a cure it just slows down death.

Thank you for reading this , please repost so i can reach as many people as possible. Maybe I’ll get lucky and someone else will find it in their heart to donate a kidney to me.

Lewis

Blood type: O+ (A+ also works)

As addendum some people have asked why not family? Of my Three children only one is well enough to donate and our blood types are incompatible (the other two also have kidney issues). My spouse has passed away. Of my three siblings both my sisters have passed away and my brother has auto immune issues. So we are asking the general public. I hope that answers some people’s questions.
