...BUT WORDS CAN NEVER HURT ME?
We’ve all heard the saying “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me”. We were taught this as children as a way to not let those mean words pe*****te our hearts, but as adults when we look back at our lives, we recognize the absolute absurdity of this statement.
C. S. Lewis once wrote “Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say 'My tooth is aching' than to say 'My heart is broken.'” Physical wounds and injuries often heal well and quickly, but cruel, or sometimes even just thoughtless words can leave scars that stay with us.
Mental – or emotional pain – is often the most difficult thing we face in life, and carrying that pain alone is the loneliest thing we can do. The good news is that you don’t have to carry your pain alone and the pain can be worked through. Conexus is here to help.
Our therapists are qualified, competent and caring. We would be honoured to join you in the process of alleviating the pain you have been carrying alone, and that has held you stuck.
