Serene Yoga Studio first opened up in 2008 and has grown ever since from its roots as a mobile studio. We have a variety of classes and welcome students of all abilities. Our class sizes are small so that teachers have plenty of time for each participant. Serene Yoga Studio teachers are committed to exceptional instruction. We focus on Yoga Actions, which help to make
yoga accessible for everyone. Serene teachers will help you create ease and stability through yoga and meditation. Our approach enables you to dig deeper and concentrate your awareness in the present moment. All of our teachers have extensive training and continue to participate in professional development workshops. The serene team is capable of helping you to find balance in the mind and body through the many styles and breathing techniques of yoga. Yoga will help to decrease right and left imbalances in the body that can cause pain and organic difficulty. We can help you create health in all of the systems of your body as well cultivate strength and flexibility. Serene Yoga Studio is a registered Canadian Yoga Alliance CYS-RYS Gold Yoga School. All teacher Trainings and Serene Yoga Action Workshops are eligible for accreditation and credits with the Canadian Yoga Alliance. Students of all levels and traditions will find something at Serene Yoga that will encourage growth in their practice. Yoga is a technology for arriving in this present moment. It is a science that incorporates a range of practices that can be adapted to suit your personality. Yoga Styles
~ Beginner ~
These classes cover the fundamentals of yoga for beginners. Experienced practitioners will enjoy the back to the basics approach. These classes are for everyone.
~ All levels ~
Everyone from Beginner to Advanced is welcome. Poses will be demonstrated and options will be offered to help everyone find the pose that is appropriate for them. Many teachers practice at Serene Yoga Studio to deepen their yoga practice and build Sangha (community).
~ Intermediate ~
Detailed instruction is provided to take the seasoned beginner to an intermediate level of practice. These classes are designed for students who have a good understanding of the basic yoga postures and would like to explore a wider variety of poses and breathing techniques.
~ Relax and Restore ~
This style of yoga is known as restorative yoga. Props are used for support. The props allow us to hold the poses longer, allowing us to open the body through passive stretching. Come relax and feel rejuvenated.
~ Yin ~
Joints in the pelvis, hips and lower spine are primarily addressed. Yin Yoga poses are held for several minutes at a time in order to stretch the connective tissue around the joints. One of the major topics will be the nadis, or energy channels in the body.
~ Kauit ~
Kaiut Yoga emphasizes long holds where pressure is applied at a variety of angles in order to work deep into the joints. Kaiut postures light up and reprogram the central nervous system, stimulate circulation and, with time and patience, increase mobility while reducing pain. This class is suitable for all practitioners.
~ Gentle Flow ~
Gentle Flow is a practice with a compassionate approach and emphasis on meditation. It is inspired by Kripalu, which is type of hatha yoga and focuses on looking inward and moving at your own pace.
~ Flow and Beginner Flow ~
Appropriate for all levels of practitioners. Poses are taught in a flowing sequence, allowing each student to move at their own pace.
~ Mindful Movement & Meditation ~
Mindful yoga postures and relaxation exercises prepare you for a 30 minute meditation practice. Come and experience different types of meditation.
~ Mindfullness Based Stress Reduction Program ~
Mindfullness meditation and relaxation/stress reduction techniques infused with hatha yoga (physical yoga). This is an 8 week course that is based on the program created by John Kabatt-Zinn. SERENE YOGA STUDIO 200 and 500-HOUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMS
Our comprehensive Teacher Training programs include a series of one day and weekend workshops within a small student/teacher ratio.
