🌞 Good morning, beautiful Yoga 4 Life Winnipeg community! 🌿
Happy Fun Fact Friday — a perfect day for a little mindset magic.

Have you ever tried shifting “I have to” into “I get to”?
This tiny change can transform the way we show up on and off the mat. ✨

Even in my own practice, that “have to” feeling sneaks in sometimes…
“I have to get my movement in.”
“I have to make time for my breathwork.”
Suddenly, it feels like a task instead of a gift.

But when I started saying “I get to move my body,” everything softened.
I get to breathe deeply.
I get to stretch, strengthen, and reconnect.
I get to honor this body and this moment. 🧘‍♀️💛

One word. One shift. One ripple of gratitude.
And before you know it, your whole day feels different.

So tell me, Yoga 4 Life Winnipeg family…
💬 What’s something YOU get to do today?
Share below — let’s inspire each other to see the blessings in the everyday.

Sending Love and Light,

Good morning, 🙏Beautiful Souls, and Happy Thursday!

Did you know…🧘‍♀️✨

Mental wellness is deeply connected to how we breathe, move, and ground ourselves — which is why yoga can be such a powerful support during challenging times.

Our practice gives us tools we can return to when life feels heavy, when grief sits close, or when winter❄️ adds its own layer of fatigue. 💛

This season, with the weight of compound grief and the winter blues, some days have felt harder than others. And that’s exactly when the tools of yoga matter most:

🌬️ Breathwork (Pranayama)
Gentle, intentional breathing helps calm the nervous system and create space when everything feels tight or overwhelming. Even a few slow breaths can shift your whole inner landscape.

🧘‍♀️ Mindful Movement
Moving the body — even in small, simple ways — helps release tension, reconnect with the present moment, and remind us that we’re still here, still capable, still moving forward.

🌿 Grounding Practices
Feeling your feet on the mat, placing a hand on your heart, or pausing in stillness can bring you back into your body when emotions feel scattered or heavy.

✨ Compassionate Awareness
Yoga teaches us to meet ourselves where we are — without judgment. Some days are harder, and that’s okay. Showing up for yourself is enough.

Today, I’m grateful for the support in my life, including my appointment with my psychologist. Reaching out for help is strength. It’s choosing wellness. It’s choosing to keep going.

If you’re feeling the weight of the season, please know you’re not alone. Your practice is here for you. Your community is here for you. And you deserve care — from others and from yourself.

Let’s keep breathing, moving, and supporting one another, one day at a time. 💫

Move with Care, Breathe with Intention, Live with Heart!

Our hearts are with the entire Tumbler Ridge community and all those affected by the tragic school shooting in BC. 🤍

When events like this happen, the impact goes far beyond what we see in the news.

Trauma lives not only in the mind, but in the body and nervous system — affecting how we breathe, sleep, focus, feel safe, and move through the world.

For students, families, educators, first responders, and the wider community, this kind of shock can ripple long after the moment has passed.

At Yoga 4 Life Winnipeg, we believe in the power of compassion, connection, breath, and gentle movement to support healing.

Today, we hold space for grief, fear, heartbreak, and uncertainty — and we send love, calm, and strength to all who are hurting.

May everyone impacted be surrounded by care, understanding, and deep support as they begin their healing journey.

You are not alone. 🤍

Good Morning, Beautiful Souls and Happy🌿 Mindful Monday — Yoga 4 Life Winnipeg Edition

✨ 𝐀 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 ✨

A new way to begin is unfolding.

Out go the resolutions that demand perfection, the pressure to start over from scratch, the push to do more, be more, force more.
Out goes the rigidity that disconnects us from our bodies and our breath. ❌💨

In comes intention.
In comes listening deeply to our bodies.
In comes returning—again and again—to awareness.
In comes choosing what feels right, aligned, and in rhythm with our inner wisdom. 🌱💚

This year isn’t about reinventing ourselves.
It’s about reconnecting with ourselves.
A gentler beginning. A steadier pace. A mindful Monday that invites us to soften, breathe, and begin exactly where we are. 🧘‍♀️✨

🌼 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐠𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞

🌬️ Begin with one conscious breath. Let it set the tone.

🧘‍♂️ Move with your energy, not against it. Some days are fire, some days are rest.

🔄 Pause before reacting. A single breath can shift your whole nervous system.

🤍 Let your practice be imperfect. Wobbles, rests, and adjustments are part of the journey.

🕊️ Return to awareness often.
Not as a correction — as a homecoming.

🌟 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤
Your body already knows the way.
Your breath already knows the rhythm.
Your practice is something you live, not perform.

Move with Care, Breathe with Intention, Live with Love!
🙏Namaste,
Shannon Conan 💜

Classes are Cancelled for Today, February 4th and Rescheduled for February 18th.

Good afternoon,☀️ Beautiful Souls!

Lately, I’ve been reminded just how deeply our bodies speak to us—especially when we’ve been trying to push past their whispers.
For the last week and a half, I’ve felt like I’ve been fighting 👊👊something on and off. Instead of slowing 🐌down, I kept moving through the motions… teaching, doing, showing up, checking the boxes, and giving myself almost no real rest.

And the body always finds a way to get our attention.

Over the past few days, my anxiety😟 has been higher than usual, and physically I’ve felt completely off—exhausted💤, achy, chilled, run down, and hovering on the edge of what feels like a low-grade fever. It’s like my whole system has been saying, “Something isn’t right.”

Yesterday, after I finished teaching, my body finally said enough. And this time, I listened.

Our symptoms aren’t always problems to fix—they’re messages. Invitations to slow down, soften, breathe, and take care of ourselves before we hit the wall.

So today, I’m choosing to honor 🙏what my body has been trying to tell me. I’m resting, sleeping, healing, and giving my nervous system the reset it’s been asking for.

I trust that by taking this pause now, I’ll be back to myself and feeling stronger💪 by Thursday. 🤍

Our bodies are incredibly wise when we stop tuning them out.
If you’ve been feeling run down, anxious, overwhelmed, or simply not yourself, let this be your reminder: you don’t have to earn your rest. Your body deserves care, too.

✨ Listen. Slow down. Restore. ✨

Good morning ☀️ Beautiful Yoga 4 Life community, and Happy Self‑Care Sunday on this beautiful first day of February.

As we welcome a new month 🗓, may we ground ourselves in intention, gratitude, and the healing energy that comes from mindful practice. Beginning each day with a positive affirmation is a powerful way to align your spirit and set the tone for the day ahead. 💟

Why weave affirmations into your routine?

💗 They gently rewire the mind toward clarity and compassion
💗 They help align your energy with the law of attraction
💗 They soften negative self‑talk and create space for healing
💗 They support overall mind–body wellness and balance

Affirmations are a simple yet sacred tool to shift your inner landscape and invite in the energy you want to embody. 💭

I would love to know:

How are you nurturing your spirit today, or sharing love with others?

Feel free to share below ⬇

As for myself:
I’m starting with a Pilates class, then teaching four sessions—sharing the gift of health, movement, and wellness with our beautiful community.

This evening, I’m hoping to unwind with a relaxing soak in the hot tub and a cozy movie night with my family.

Wishing each of you love, light, and uplifting vibrations as we step into this new month together.

🌼 HAPPY BABY POSE (Ananda Balasana)
Sharing this wonderful alignment breakdown from Hema to help you get the most out of your practice.

🟢 Optimal Alignment (Where we want to be):
• Shins stacked vertically
• Thighs parallel to the floor
• Arms gently drawing the legs down with relaxed shoulders
• Entire spine resting comfortably on the mat

🔴 Common Misalignments (What to avoid):
• Shins tipping forward or backward
• Tailbone lifting off the floor
• Arms pulling backward instead of downward
• Lower back feeling compressed

✅ Why Proper Alignment Matters
• Eases tension in the lower back and hips
• Enhances hip mobility and pelvic flexibility
• Provides a gentle massage to the spine and abdominal organs
• Helps calm the nervous system and reduce stress
• Prepares the body for deeper hip-opening postures

⚠️ Risks of Incorrect Alignment
• Increased strain on the lumbar spine
• Added pressure on hips and knees
• Neck and shoulder tightness
• Potential aggravation of sciatica or slip disc issues
• Reduced therapeutic benefits

⏱ How Long to Hold
🕒 Stay in the pose for 30–60 seconds
🔁 Repeat 2–3 rounds with slow, relaxed breathing

🚨 Precautions
• Avoid pulling the legs forcefully
• Keep the tailbone grounded
• Use a strap or towel if flexibility is limited
• If you’ve had recent hip/knee surgery or experience severe back pain, consult a qualified yoga professional

🧘‍♀️ Remember:
When comfort meets alignment, healing begins. ✨

My Yoga Journey

Hi, I am Shannon and I am so excited to be part of your Yoga Journey! I truly believe that yoga is for every Body and every Mind. My classes are inclusive and offer an approach that is available to all in a friendly, safe, and supportive environment.

I have been teaching yoga since September 2014. My certifications include: Yoga Centre Winnipeg-YCW Certification (200 hours), Omniji Teacher's College Winnipeg Yin Yoga certification (50 hours), Peg City Yoga Sivatantra Yoga Certification (50 hours) Yoga Fit Level 1 & Health Care Level 1 and Barre Certification form the Yoga Barre. I am also just embarking on the Journey to achieve my Advanced Yoga teacher Training with Hart Lazer. (300 Hours)

I began my journey in 2005 while I was pregnant with my daughter. Being an avid step class student, I was looking for a gentler physical practice during my pregnancy. After my pregnancy, I went back to my regular step practice, however years of high powered step classes had begun to have effects on my body. I soon returned to my yoga practice and I was amazed at how this gentler practice could challenge me both mentally and physically!

Yoga has changed me in so many ways! It has guided me, nurtured me, and allowed me to grow into a much more grounded and positive being! I am so happy to have found my bliss with yoga and am excited to share it with all of you!
